Hi, I am going to Pleasanton, California, near San Francisco. I have 3 children (12, 11, 5). We would like to go to a nice FAMILY type beach near San Francisco area. Would like to maybe swim, play on beach, explore tidepools, etc. Any suggestions? Also any other "must-see" places in S.F.? Thank you so much!!

Oh, also, we live near the coast in South Carolina and are used to our beaches with warm water. Will we need wet suits to swim (or just play) in the water of the Pacific?

The water is cold along the West Coast. You don't need wetsuits, though, just to play around in the surf along the beach. For specific advice on beaches and other activities, I recommend you post this in the SF forum.
