We had read the reviews and decided to check out this place. I had looked at other menus around the French Quarter and this menu had what I was looking for, Blackened Catfish. This was a good, filling plate. It came with mixed vegetables and jumbalaya. All very good and I would order it again. However, my wife ordered the... more
Although this is not the type place we would have just walked into (it's pretty much a dive), the concierge at our hotel recommended it for late night desserts. We ended up eating there twice during our long weekend stay. The bread pudding is the best we've had in New Orleans (made on-site, not off-site as a previous review said).... more
Had a local tell me about this place and went for a late lunch by myself and sat at the bar. Being in New Orleans means oysters to me and I'm picky. My dozen on the half shell were STUPENDOUS! Followed up with fried oysters and also GREAT. I was arrived a few minutes after lunch was over but the... more
We found a discount certificate online for this restaurant, read the reviews on TripAdvisor, and decided we needed to give it a try. We were not disappointed! The food was wonderful! There was no wait on a Friday night, so we could walk right in, and up a couple of flights of stairs to our table. Our waitress was not... more
The lineup at our original destination for breakfast turned out to be moving at a snail's pace so we went back out to Bourbon street and started looking for another. A fellow on the street corner was "hawking" the Oceana Grill. Although we had never heard of it we decided to give it a try. The service was great and... more
We ended up at Oceana several times over the course of a weekend-- twice to eat, and once for drinks. Their po'boys are nothing fancy, but fresh and made with excellent bread. The mixed drinks are delicious, and their fries outstanding (if they season them!). The desserts, while clearly not made in-house, were also good: the pecan pie and bananas... more
My first night, April 1st/08 I dined at Oceana and made a great choice by ordering the blackened catfish. It was very good, and I have ordered this dish many times in different places. It was flavorful, not too spicy or salty. The large portion of fish was fresh and light. It came with vegetables and jambalaya, which I substituted... more
wish i had read previous review before i ordered the catfish. "bland" is the exact word i was going to use to describe it. probably fair to mention that i got the same thing at another place and it was just as bland. this is suprising to me because when i think of new orleans food i think of ample... more
