In a city that prides itself on good seafood, Acme Oyster House is a popular French Quarter favorite. For this reason, I was looking forward to trying the Metairie branch to see if I enjoyed it as much as the Quarter spot, but ultimately I was disappointed. The ambience is really what gives Acme its extra kick, and while the... more

The only way to get your bang for your buck is to get the charbroiled and the raw oysters...everything else is WAY overpriced and you can get it better in authentic new orleans style joints. Bring friends this one can accommodate a crowd more

My only complaint is that we felt very ignored by our server. But the quality of the food made up for it. Cajun/Creole at it's best. The lines can be long. I suggest showing up for an eary lunch. I think we went at 11 and we got a table right away. more

We had a fantastic time at Acme. We sat at the bar where we thought had the best atmosphere. We shared fresh shucked seafood and beer and enjoyed every minute of it. If you don't want to wait on line, ask to sit at the bar. more

If you are looking for a great homestyle meal at a reasonable price, you must try this place. It's loud and crowded all the time, but the food is worth it. We went twice during our 4 day stay (only because we discovered it on day 3!) We really good have had lunch here every day of our trip. We... more

The Metairie location is large, busy & much newer & cleaner than the French Quarter location. Surprisingly, because Acme turned me on to oysters, the char-broiled oyster appetizer just didn't impress this time, but everything else delighted us for freshness, good preparation & lovely taste. I can't help but think these last oysters were substandard to begin with. Ths has... more

My all-time favorite place. Casual, fun, noisy, and crazy busy... typical Nawlins. Awesome, simple and fresh oysters... I can eat there for days in a row. more

I went on solo trip to NO.. I could beat the long line by asking for the bar seat! It is casual dining so it made me very comfortable to go in alone. The staffs are very friendly and attentive. Raw oysters were great!!! I had resistance before to raw ones but not I got hooked. I went there 3... more

I had seen positive reviews for this restaurant in Fodors, Frommers, etc. and expected it to be a typical tourist haunt. It did seem mostly full of tourists but unlike most tourist haunts had amazing food. I can't speak for much more than the oysters, but I assume thats why you're looking at this restaurant. The Chargrilled Oysters are simply... more
