Though the French Quarter is the most tourist-friendly part of New Orleans, it is conspicuously lacking in good po-boy joints. Thankfully, Johnny's fills the void, and whether you're looking for a fried seafood fix or a cheap lunch, Johnny's is the place to go. The restaurant itself is not much but conveys a hustle and bustle that is typical of... more

From the other reviews it seems that people may be a little confused about what Johnny's is about. If your the type who notices when a floor is a little dirty and enjoys their weekly trips to the Applebee's or Red Lobster then this ain't for you. If you enjoy local flavor at hole-in-the-wall type joint's and the first thing... more

While visiting New Orleans my family and I decided to eat a po-boy for the first time at Johnny's. What a mistake! We walked in the door and the place was packed. It took us well over 30 minutes just to get to the front of the line and place our order. This gave us plenty of time to view... more

Spent July 4, 2008 weekend in the Quarter. Had roast beef and shrimp poboys at Johnny's. Both sandwiches were good. The cramped atmosphere, with locals and tourists, was worth experiencing at least once. more

I was not impressed at all. I was expecting really good Po-boy sandwhiches, but it was ok. We had the shrimp Po-boy sandwhich and there was so much bread. I noticed that other people in the restaurant also had a lot of bread left on their plate after they finished. The shrimp was seasoned really good, but I have had... more

My wife and I recently went to Johnny's based on Tripadvisor ratings. The sandwiches were good, but a mouse ran across the dining room floor while we were eating. Perhaps we are overly sensitive, but are not comfortable eating in a restaurant which houses rodents. We left and cannot recommend Johnny's. more

On my first trip to New Orleans a few years ago, I ran across Johnny's purely by accident, and I'm certainly glad I did. To put it bluntly, these folks serve up a quality po-boy. On my most recent trip there almost two weeks ago, my only disappointment was they were out of crawfish. I got the shrimp po-boy instead,... more

Went here for lunch last week. My fiance' had a muffalotta with hard bread, and I tried the gumbo which had a lot of shells in it from the crab. And worst of all, we saw roaches crawling on the very dusty fan that sits on top of the soda fridge. more

As a local here in NOLA, I find Johnny's Po Boys good but certainly not in the top five in popularity in this city. Sure if all you're looking for is a shrimp po-boy and you're not into a full culinary eating experience, go to Johnny's. But for a meal that comes as an experience of gastronomic ecstasy, gotta choose... more
