On Saturday July 17, 2008 My husband, myself and another couple had dinnner reservations at Galatoire's to celebrate my husband's birthday, our anniversary, and the sale of our home in Florida. We were promptly seated at 7pm upstairs. The room was not crowded. Our waiter Peter appeared after 10 minutes and said he would be back for drink orders. He... more

Dined at Galatoire's back in 2000 and loved it. Went with my wife for anniversary on June 20, 08. Wait staff reminded me of a lower quality restaraunt (not charming). We started with a lack of bread plates which meant our "crusty french bread" crumbs went EVERYWHERE. That's not too big a deal though. We had our salads and they... more

One cannot judge a restaurant simply by the food alone. We had visited Galatoires's several years ago and were anxious to return. Once our flight from Denver landed on 6/6/08, we jumped into the rental car and headed straight for the restaurant around 2:30 in the afternoon. The sign at the entrance said "long pants." The maitre d' (Arnold) made... more

Dined on May 24th -- food was delicious, service was excellent, room was brighter than it seemed to need to be, crowd was happy, selection was extensive. No real complaints. I guess the only slightly unpleasant feeling I left with was that some of the servers seemed to pay more attention to detail and to their customers than ours did... more

Galatoire's is an establishment I have frequented with endearment for the past 8 or 9 years. However, on November 2 of 2007 and at my suggestion, I made reservations upstairs for 5 of my closest friends from Los Angeles to celebrate a birthday. After being seated, the drink order was placed and served. The appetizers were then verbally listed by... more

This has been my favorite restaurant in New Orleans, but our last visit was quite disappointing, and I very much hope it was just an off-night because this can be such a delightful place. When we visited, the food was just not up to par. Fish, though completely fresh, was overcooked, and a lot of dishes came swimming in heavy... more

I have eaten at many, many restaurants around the world. Galatoire's is one of the best. Period. Oysters en brochette with a great wine is sublime, and that defines this New Orleans landmark. You may have to stand in line outside for a long time, but it is worth the wait. Five stars from me! more

We celebrated our anniversary by taking five friends to Galatoire's for late lunch on a Sunday. This is true New Orleans cooking in the old style - nothing trendy, just incredibly delicious food. The secret to a stellar experience at this restaurant is to put yourself in the waiter's hands, and let him run the show. As a result we... more
