Loved every bit of it! Great atmosphere and ambiance, great food. Fun people. The night we were there in late Sept., there was a fun original blues band playing. Our 3 month old loved looking at all the fun colors and lights in the decor (as did we). Only word of caution is that the staff seemed slightly disorganized and... more

Great little place to get a feel for the local scene, while having a pleasant and enjoyable meal. Menu is very veg-friendly, and offers plenty of options for those looking to eat ethically (organic/local produce, etc.). Whereas the service was a bit lacking, it was fitting given the overall vibe and asthetic of the place. Open mic entertainment provided good... more

It is a little hard to spot, but we found it! The signage is not very obvious. SERVICE We like were standing there, wondering do you seat yourself? After asking, told that the restaurant was upstairs. So headed there, chose a seat by the railings looking over the band stage. That night was kinda folksy music , guess they have... more

Recommended by our innkeeper Eileen at the Grand Victorian bed and breakfast, this restaurant can start to be described as ‘bohemian’ and finished as ‘worthwhile’. It appears to be in a warehouse; the dining room is upstairs though there’s a (bar?) area downstairs near a stage. I had the fish tacos and my wife had a bacon cheese burger. The... more

What a great find! My son and I was driving down the Oregon coast with no real plan in mind other than we were headed toward home. We stopped in Newport, found a motel, then quickly logged on the Internet to find a place to eat. This popped up on Tripadvisor; the reviews looked good; so we checked it out.... more

Tired of the "same old, same old"? Then check out Cafe Mundo in Newport. It's a fantastic place to eat, both in atmosphere and culinary fare. We visited the area during the Newport Seafood and Wine Festival and tried this gem on a lark. It is the one restaurant to which we are sure to return! more

We ate at Cafe Mundo on a Saturday night. It is a small place, but well designed and didn't seem crowded at all. The menu is creative and varied, with plenty of options for meat eaters and vegetarians alike. We started with the soup of the day (Cream of Asparagus) and roasted garlic with balsamic vinegar reduction. The soup was... more

There's no place like Cafe Mundo. The food is delicious and healthy at a reasonable price. Service is provided by people who really care about your experience and are friendly and helpful. There's often great music, or there may be poetry readings or fire dancing or . . . ! Customers include people of different ages, interests, occupations who come... more

Cafe Mundo is a kid-friendly, adult-encouraging, community gathering place. The food is always superb. Most locally grown, and organic. They offer live music or an open mike every night. Writers and musicians gather there to perform mid-week; local and travelling bands perform on Friday and Saturday nights. I live in Newport and have been a fan of Cafe Mundo since... more
