Everything is smothered in a weird BBQ/spicy sauce - terrible food. The only reason i gave this place 2 stars was because the margarita wasn't bad. I can't believe we wasted time at this place. The salse in the squeeze ketchup bottles that isn't even refrigerated should have been our first warning. Yuck - don't waste your time here. more

I made a 25 person reservation for my birthday more than a week in advance for the outside deck. The reason I chose this place was b/c of the outside seating. I have been going here for 20 years, and it is still one of my favorite places to eat. Located downtown on Illinois st. it has long been a local favorite. The food and service at this Indianapolis oldie but goodie was excellent. My family has been coming to Joes for ten years, and we have never been dissapointed. The chili con queso is great. They also serve the best biscuits and gravy in town for breakfast more

I have no idea why this place is so popular, because there are so many much, much better Mexican resturants in town. I assume that for some time, Acapulco Joe's was one of the only Mexican restaurants in town, thus the great deal of affection lavished on a genuinely mediocre dining experience.
