This definitely seemed to be a hot spot in Telluride, and we were lucky to get a table outside on the small patio. The inside vibe is cool and people seemed to be really enjoying the wine or cocktails on the fun short tables. We sat outside and enjoyed the view and the evening air. The food was tasty. I... more
Everything we ordered was great. The kids had a pizza and some soup. Both were fantastic. We had a pasta with lamb and also a pasta with Elk. Excellent! The staff were very friendly and offered great suggestions. Treat yourself to this little gem in Telluride. more
We took our two kids (aged 10 and 12) for an early dinner. Our waiter was very good, pointing out the end of season "sale" wine list along with a good bottle of Italian wine. My husband had the trout dish - it was quite good, but he was hoping to make a healthy choice and the dish was prepared... more
My wife and I were on a 4 day trip to escape last week. We were starving after our first day of skiing. We walked in and there were no seats available at the Excelsior, so we stopped at the bar. Between 5:30 and 6:30 they have a bar menu. For Under 20 dollars a plate you get to choose... more

We walked up and down Colorado Ave. previewing menus until we were completely confused and then settled on this restaurant. Our waiter was flat, his pants and apron dirty, and he offered nothing in the way of personality or even the... more
We were a party of six who were sorry that good food and a satisfying dining experience were outweighed by a waiter who had no sense of timing, little understanding of what true service was and a lack of diplomacy when asked about our order - from the drinks to the salads to the main courses. Luckily, we had dessert... more
Excelsior is a wonderful little place in the middle of Colorado Avenue with fantastic atmosphere, a friendly staff, good food, great wine list, and a fantastic bar menu for those in search of value. I thoroughly enjoyed the desserts as well, and the people watching from the bar is always good. more
The wine recommendations (and wine) were excellent. The polenta fries were creamy on the inside and crispy on the outside--the aioli with them would have been better with more garlic, but the truffle oil made up for it. The trout was grilled to perfection--outstanding. The pasta with wild mushrooms was fine, though nothing to write home about. The blueberry pie... more
