We had made reservations at Catalonia in Bayahibe a month in advance and when we got there we were told our reservations of four rooms had been cancelled because we did not RE-CONFIRMED. We already had guaranteed these rooms. The resort was overbooked. We asked to speak to the manager and we were told he/she wasn't in. Only the front... more

I especially loved this hotel's location. The ground's were nice and I loved their food especially the fish although quite expensive. There were plenty of things to do: catamaran, jungle or river excursions snorkeling, pic-nics and some water sports. I spent most of my time at the beach so although the hotel was good I cannot overly comment on it's... more

it was a good resort ,good food fun entertainment ,lots of italian people so there was alot of italian food so if you are italian you will like this resort because most of the staff understands the language. Clean resort needs a little bit more exciting breakfast food. There was a lot of pizza and pasta which was good ,beautiful... more

We visited Catalonia Gran Domincus December 2007 two adults and two 11 year olds. We had an excellent holiday on all accounts. Though we heard little if any English all week (it's a resort frequented by Europeans primarily Spanish and Italians) it provided even more of a sense of getaway and the language challenges easily overcome with a little French... more

Just returned from celebrating new years at the Gran Domenicus. It was simply one of the best all inclusive we have been to. We normally travel with a group of 15-20 ppl with children ranging from 8 years- 18 years. Teen have as much fun as the smaller kids as the animators entertain every age. If you wanted quiet you... more

We just had a great and relaxing time at Catalonia. We were a party of 5 adults and 4 children. The beach is great and the waves are much fun. The pool is awsome especially for kids. It has a slope entry and kids of all ages love it. The grounds are beautiful and well taken care of. The food... more

Like several other reviewers, I did not choose this hotel but was forced into it when my resort of choice, the Canoa Coral, overbooked and upon arrival, rudely told us that we MUST now stay there. The first night we waited 3 hours, until 2am, for our rooms, and they never apologized. They claimed it is "similar quality" to the... more

The staff's inability to speak / understand english led to a miscommunication that cost us several hundred dollars in service fees. We tried to negociate some sort of compensation with customer relations they did nothing to help us and never followed up with us as promised. I strongly discourage anybody who doesn't speak fluent spanish to go to this resort. more

This resort use to be the VentaClub Gran Dominicus. It is located in Bayahibe, not in La Romana like Go Travel Direct is showing. Overall the resort is good. Great food. Nothing to say about it but very good. The beach in front of the resort is nice. The sand is a bit brownish, nothing to compare with Cancun though.,... more
