Washed up on the shores near Mazagon, off the tourist track, after exploring the wonders of Cordoba, Seville, Granada and Ronda in the spring heat (41C). The setting of the Parador in Mazagon is stunning - it's a low, modern building which doesn't try and compete with its surroundings - a lush green lawn (rare in Andalucia!) with beautifully-tended flowers leading down to a pool, with the sea beyond. To get to the beach, you walk down some rustic-style (but safe!) wooden steps to a stretch... more

We were at the parador in late November, at a time when lots of work was being done on the grounds and parts of the building. The site is very beautiful, but the beach was dirty and trashy - again, perhaps at this time of year there is little effort put into cleaning it up. The indoor pool is lovely,... more
