We stayed at the W more by default as we found ourselves stranded at the Airport after the Earthquake for they where the only hotel in Honolulu that could take a manual booking ( no electricity for 48 hours). Most notable at this hotel is that it is aging. The rooms have a 'lived-in' look with an assortment of scratches, scuffs, stains and spots. The electronics are worn-out.
