We just returned from a week's trip through NC, SC, and GA. On our last night we were traveling back to Atlanta to fly back home. We didn't want to stay in the big city of Atlanta, so we had read in our Frommer's Travel Book that there was a fantastic B&B in Macon, GA. The book said it was... more
We stayed at the 1842 Inn for our wedding night on Sept 1, 2007. We loved it! The inn is beautifully appointed, the grounds are well kept, and the rooms are very romantic. The inn is located in the most gorgeous section of downtown and is close to several area restaurants. Take a walk down College Street. It is beautiful.... more
Our family drove from Atlanta to meet friends in Macon and attend the Cherry Blossom Festival. I called the inn based on other reviews on tripadvisor. I was told the rate would be 255.00 a night. So I booked the room. I was then sent a conf. stating the total w/ charges would be 331.00- Okay That's still reasonable even... more
We stayed at the 1842 Inn the weekend before Christmas and had a lovely and quiet time. I say quiet because the city of Macon was pretty much like a ghost town and thank goodness we had our car to drive out and about with during our stay. We took a nice walk one day but Macon can be a... more
This place is what a B&B is all about! Every time I have stayed, and it's been several times, I always feel welcomed. I've always staed in the victorian house in the back. HUGE rooms, GREAT breakfast. BEAUTIFUL furnishings. I wish I had photos. Those that are posted really do not do the place justice. more
Stayed at the 1842 Inn for one night after a long transatlantic flight to Atlanta and a 3h drive as the traffic out of Atlanta was so bad. As soon as we stepped in we found ourselves relaxing. We were warmly welcomed into the inn which looks like someone's private home. It is owned by two local business people, one... more
This Inn is beautiful! We happened upon it from a very nice woman who was working in the visitor center. She highly recommended this Inn and I'm glad we listened to her. We stayed in the Douglass room in the cottage house in the back of the Inn and it was beautiful. The room was wonderfully decorated and I loved... more
We stayed here for one night in the Georgia Belle room as we were passing through Macon on the way to Savannah. As such we didn't see much of Macon itself but thoroughly enjoyed staying at the 1842. We were greeted with such enthusiasm by the person on reception and they really go out of their way to make your... more
We stayed at the 1842 Inn on business but because of the Inn's gracious hospitality our trip ended up feeling more like a romantic get-away weekend. They have done a lovely job restoring this mansion in period style, yet have made it very user-friendly for guests. The parlor, dining room, and living room are places that you can lounge around... more
