We found this campground good and located in a convienient place to sights and scenic roads. There is a range of camp sites (and cabins). There are sites out on open grassed area (where we were) and sites nested amongst trees next to a small stream. There is a shop (with the lodge) a 10 minute walk away and a... more

We are repeat guests of the State Game Lodge. We love this area of Custer State Park because of the wildlife - bison on the lawn, birds in the trees. It's convenient to the wildlife loop road as well as to Rapid City. This time we stayed in one "small sleeping cabin" (2 double beds) and one "large sleeping cabin"... more

Booked a one-room, two double bed cabin at State Game Lodge through the 800 number. Cabin: Spotless, linens looked/smelled new. Bathroom tight but newly remodeled- it's a small hot water heater, so plan showers accordingly. Flat panel TV had plenty of cable channels. No telephone. A/c worked fine. Cabin location: Outstanding! Backed up against hillside (10 ft away), hundreds of... more

This is an older hotel with some more modern units. The main building served as a summer retreat for Pres. Coolidge, so that gives you some idea of the time period. The main building is interesting and worth seeing, and there are some great things to do and see in the park. (Don't miss the safari ride for a cook-out... more

Wanted to stay at the lodge for a night because of the great history. President Coolidge used it as a summer white house. My room was small but realy nice. The bed was incredible! I ate a couple of meals there. My buffalo new york strip for dinner was amazing. The buffalo eggs bennedict for breakfast was somthing you have... more

In fairness to Creekside, we booked our stay at Creekside Lodge (July 20-25, 2008) back in January before it opened and based only on the description on the State Game Lodge website which described it as a Lodge with a spacious great room and stone fireplace etc with no photos. We paid $180 night + lots of taxes for 1... more

We stayed in one of the cabins at the State Game Lodge in July 2008. The cabin had 2 double beds, a couch, chair and tv. Screen door was a nice feature. Standard bathroom. I loved the location. Plenty of room for the kids to run around in the field outside. Very short and nice walk to the General Store.... more

After enjoying the superb wildlife on the loop drive, we stayed here for one night. Our room was upstairs in the main lodge building. Although it was a rather awkward shape and we therefore had twin beds, we were impressed with the comfort and the old-world feel of the room. Dinner was wonderful, probably the best meal we had in... more

Located within walking distance of the State Game Lodge, the Creekside Lodge was perfect for our family of city folk. The lodge only opened in June 2008, so everything was new and clean, but not especially hectic since all the services (like check in, dining, artist displays, etc. ) were all located at the State Game Lodge (which looked "motel-ish",... more

We stayed at the Game Lodge Campground in Custer State Park for one night in June, 2008. We had a 35 foot RV, and the site we had was level with blacktop. The hookups were just water and electricity, but all worked good. The location was perfect, and it was quiet at night, except for the thunder storm. The bath... more
