The Lamothe House is located on Esplanade Avenue, one of the French Quarter's most famous streets, with its ancient live oaks and frequent sightings of horse-drawn carriages. Esplanade is a bounding street of the French Quarter, so you are steps away from the action, but not sleeping in the middle of it. In addition to its convenient location, Esplanade Avenue also offers some of New Orleans' oldest and most interesting architecture. The hotel is within 4 blocks of the historic French Market. One of the city's best kept secrets, the Faubourg Marigny, is just steps from the Lamothe House and offers hot nightspots, hip cafes, and some of the world???s finest restaurants. Also nearby, you'll find exquisite shopping, museums, historical landmarks, The French Market and Mississippi River cruises. more » « less

If you are looking for a nice, French Quarter experience, then The Lamothe House is fine. It is located right on the edge of the quarter and we were able to walk into the quarter everyday and experience it like the locals. We went to the Cafe' Envie and had a good breakfast with the locals (including a bowl of... more

Thank you for choosing to stay with us. We do offer an enhanced breakfast served from 7am to 10am sharp consisting of both white and wheat bread, donuts, danishes, assorted pastries, hot and cold cereals, coffee, tea, oj, and milk. At times we offer fruit, but the fruit availability is based on season. We also offer our guest a complimentary...

I can't say enough about this place! We stayed for 3 nights and it was amazing. I've recently recently fallen in love with New Orleans and The Lamothe house has just cemented my new found love. The main house is situated on Esplanade between Royal and Chartres on the outer edge of Faubourg Marigny. We stayed in the Marigny (Mar-ra-ne)... more

Just spent a super weekend at Lamothe House Hotel, New Orleans. I was a little concerned due to mixed reviews but our room was very clean, delightfully decorated, & the location cannot be beat. We had a small room off the courtyard of the main house - the bedroom was small but the bathroom was decent sized. I loved the... more

When you weigh the price, the location, the character, and the wonderful staff...this hotel is still my favorite. And I've stayed in most of the hotels in the French Quarter over the past 10 years. I enjoy the sense of living in the Quarter; not of just being a guest of a hotel. This is what you get at Lamothe.... more

We visited the Lamothe House for a long weekend to celebrate my husband's 30th Birthday. We stayed June 5-9, 2008 in Room 101. I was told by a clerk when preparing to book that it is one of the best rooms in the hotel (I really did my research since it was for my hub's birthday). We were definitely not... more

My partner and I stayed at this lovely hotel for a week and could not have enjoyed our stay more. Our room was amazing, with beautiful antique furnishings and mirrors. We also had a balcony overlooking beautiful Esplanade Ave. The staff at the hotel were incredibly friendly with lots of suggestions about tours, restaraunts, and things to do in the... more

I have traveled the world for the last 20+ years, I have never experienced a greater "hotel horror story" than the Lamothe House. I have stayed in guest houses, B&Bs, hotels and resorts. From the moment we walked in the front door, we knew we were in trouble. The hallway was poorly lit, the sofa was frumpy and stained, the... more

I was a little disappointed really. It looked great at first but the staff aren't really friendly and was not made to feel welcome. There was only one guy who was friendly and charming but the others couldn't really care. Not what you would expect from a small hotel / guest house. The breakfast was so awful on the first... more

After reading glowing reviews about this B&B, my boyfriend and I decided to stay at the Lamothe House during our annual vacation to the New Orleans Jazz Fest. Upon arrival, we were told that our rooms were across the street in the "Marigny House" instead of the main house. The room assigned to us was simply terrible. The room was... more

I want to share my experience with The Lamothe House with everyone. We went to New Orleans for a vacation, and booked a room here. We got one of the one beadroom suites, which was beautiful. The staff was very accomidating from the get go. Then, a few days into our vacation, my best friend and travel companion ended up... more
