I arrived late Saturday afternoon for my 4 night stay at Rugby Gardens. My hosts, Sue and Michael, were on hand to greet me and help with me getting settled in. My room was spacious and comfortable as well as very clean. After a shower and nap, I followed their advice and walked to The Farm, a small, quaint restaurant... more

My husband and I stayed at Rugby Gardens for two nights during our NYC trip. It was very easy to find thanks to the great directions from Sue (the owner). The place makes you feel at home as soon as you walk in. There are a lot of pictures and paintings all over the walls, antique looking furniture, etc. The... more

I travelled with my husband and one of our adolescent sons to Rugby Gardens in March, 2008. We have been to the New York area many times, but this was our first opportunity to stay in Brooklyn. Rugby Gardens was not only a comfortable place to stay (THE MOST COMFORTABLE BEDS ANY OF US HAS SLEPT ON), but it was... more

Rugby Gardens was exactly what I needed for a local, affordable accommodation in Brooklyn. The neighborhood is lovely, near the park with small shops near by. I was free to come and go as I pleased and Michael and Susan were extremely helpful, non-intrusive, pleasant people. Breakfast was substantial with many choices. There are 2 rooms on the 3rd floor,... more

Vibrant, walkable neighborhood; a block from subway, food coop, many storefront restaurants; comfortable old house; helpful hosts. Definitely recommended! more

Just as they say, Rugby Gardens was for us a home away from home. The decor was comfortable, clean, colorful, eclectic, fresh. The rooms were just the right size. Hosts Sue and Michael were friendly, generous with advice, and completely respectful of our privacy. No trouble parking. We were expecting street noise, but amazingly, there was none. The walk to... more

Hubby and I stayed at Rugby gardens for 3 nights in September 07. We must echo the comments made by other guests, Rugby Gardens is a wonderful and accommodating place to stay. Sue and Michael are tremendous hosts who are informative, hospitable and entertaining without being obtrusive. The location is also a plus, Rugby Gardens is located on a tree... more

Innkeepers were interesting and friendly. Large and marvelous breakfasts. Charming furnishings.. Great neighborhood near the subway. (We took the car into Manhattan. Not really an easy thing to do.) The only downside is a shared bathroom. We would definitely return. more
