Staying at the Akwaaba Mansion was an extremely enjoyable experience that I will be happy to repeat the next time my wife and I are visiting the NY area. It has a number of uniquely decorated themed rooms, and I can't wait to try the next one when we return. We stayed in the "Jumping the Broom" room on this... more

Excellent B&B located in the Bedford-Stuyvesant area of Brooklyn. We found it to be much better value for money than those on offer in Manhattan. The Staff are very friendly and give a warm welcome. Breakfast varies day by day and is excellent with very fresh produce (French toast was excellent). We stayed in the Ashante room and were very... more

Staying at Akwaaba Inn is a unique and uplifting experience. From the moment of arrival we felt welcomed like old friends.. Courtesy and care abound [thank you Ingrid and Gregory] This 19th century Brooklyn mansion is furnished with period pieces and considerable flair. Each room [we peeked at the others] is individual and elegant. We, as married-for-42-years, were enchanted by... more

We had a fabulous time staying at the Akwaaba Mansion, Brooklyn. It was everything that we wanted it to be and more. The rooms were clean and spacious, whilst also feeling cosy and comfortable and the themes of each made them feel unique and special. The breakfasts were fantastic and filling - and each one was different - which for... more

"Let us be grateful to people who make us happy; they are the charming gardeners who make our souls blossom." -Marcel Proust. After seeing Tyler Perry's movie "Why Did I Get Married?", my girlfriends and I decided to take our husbands on a little overnighter to NYC. We couldn't have chosen a better spot than the Akwaaba to bring enjoyment,... more

I decided to surprise my husband with a mini getaway in the middle of December simply to say "I Love You." One special evening at the Akwaaba Mansion was the remedy, as our evening was filled with tons of bliss. Upon arrival, we were greeted by the beautifully spirited Innkeeper Ms. Dolores. We were taken on a tour of the... more

What a fantasic place to stay, quiet, individual and perfectly romantic, all of this is topped with the friendliest service. Could not have been better. The fact that it was slightly away from the hustle and busle of New York City made it feel like home and the good hearty breakfast was just splendid. Have recommended to to friends already more

I was looking for a local Bed & Breakfast and found Akwaaba Inn. I'm certainly glad I did. The service of owner Monique Greenwood and staff were gracious. Their knowledge of restaurants and entertainment from the surrounding area was great. The rooms have character and charm each having its own theme. Of course the breakfast is great! -A.K, White Plains,... more

Akwaaba Inn is a completely memorable place to stay - we arrived late from the Uk and as we walked into our room the Innkeeper had covered the room with rose petals and candles and even filled up the fab jaquzzi bath with hot water. My boyfriend proposed to me that night and it was the most wonderful setting. The... more

This place is an absolute find. The only downside is that we could only stay one night. Host Delores was as warm and gracious as they come - greeted us with a cool glass of her famous iced tea (she's mum on her recipe!) and warm cookies, while giving us a tour of this beautiful home and making us feel... more
