This place was fantastic - charming, nicely furnished, in lovely neighborhood. We had some apprehension because of the earlier reviews (which we didn't read until after making the booking) - but thought the place was terrific. Exactly what we wanted. People who desire a chain hotel experience should seek that out - this is a former house, with all the... more

We arrived at 9 pm after the staff departed. The mattress was approx 20 years old, collapsed on the sides and like sleeping on a board. The room has an emergency exit in it and a lighted EXIT sign glowed all night. Also, the room cannot be locked securely as this is an emergency egress. We hardly slept all night... more

The Beacon Inn 2 did not provide heat on a cold night. They did not even make the bed with a blanket. After searching through the drawers, we found one thin cotton blanket. They did not provide facial tissues. There was no staff on duty after 9PM to correct any problems. If you like to eat a continental breakfast standing... more

This B & B is in a house that is about a hundred years old and it has a lot of charm, but some of the wear and tear is more than you would expect. While it is in very good condition overall; our main issue was the locks on our room door had to be jiggled to fully engage.... more

I stayed here for 3 nights while visiting with my teenage daughter at a time when hotel prices were all in the $200-range all over town, and I just didn't want to spend that much. We stayed in a large front first-floor room the first night and on the 3rd floor for the second two nights. This is a simple... more

Came for a visit to nearby BC. Shabby, small, pitiful appointments. So all we really needed was a bed ( lousy mattress and beddings) and a bath ( who needs water pressure ?) yet each was the worst - literally. My complaint and a request to change rooms were futile. And probably a blessing in disguise. This is the only... more

This place was awful! Thank goodness it was only for one night! The garret room (the "plymouth") was on the 4th floor, up a tiny steep stairway with no elevator-a factor for me as I am asthmatic. The room actually had the emergency egress in it , so we had a large EXIT sign in the room (!) which remained... more

Ok. So you can't do everything yourself, but after this trip, I am reminded why I try to! My boyfriend was left in charge of the planning of our little get away to Boston. I would like to take this opportunity to remind everyone that you should always ask, "Hey, hun? Did you check with Trip Advisor before you booked... more

We recently returned from a 3-night stay at the Beacon Inn, 1750, in Brookline, MA. Our room was a minuscule room on the 4th floor via the former servants' staircase. Yes, charming old touches are noticed here and there, but the place is dirty, rundown and does not seem particularly safe. THe door jam to our room was split, and... more

My wife and I decided that New England sounded like a great honeymoon, but this B&B is what changed our minds. We arrived at the Boston airport late at night, and took a taxi to the Beacon Inn. We found our key in an envelope outside and walked in, tired and happy to finally get to our room. That's when... more
