Hi, I stayed in this hostel. I was supponed to stay 3 days but I stayed only two because I found a mouse runnig along the floor of my room. The worst thing was the reply of the staff when I reported this "event". They didn´t make anything to solve the problem. First, the girl at the reception told me... more

It was my first time staying in a hostel and didn't really have an idea of what to expect. Candy Hostel was in a great location and we had read great Trip Advisor Reviews. Candy Hostel is very close to the Subway, so you can get from the Candy Hostel to Grand Central in under 20 minutes. Check-in was smooth... more

I've said this before.. There are 42 bathrooms in the building, 6 per floor. They are cleaned 2-3 times a day. If one is dirty goto another. The cleanliness depends on your fellow travelers who used it before you. We can't stand outside every bathroom and clean it after everyuse. Thank You Candy Have a Sweet Day!

I stayed at the candy"hostel" in December of 2007 and i regret every moment from the time i walked through the back door(VERY CONFUSING ADDRESS...CAB DRIVER COULDN'T EVEN HELP). They advertise as a hotel and this hole in the wall hostel is defiantly not that. The say "double room" meaning one abnormally small full bed and unfortunately i thought that... more

ok i remember you. and i am the manager, the big chief. i dont know where you get your info from.. first, we dont advertise anywhere that we are a hotel, we are a hostel and thats what you booked. a Double room is a full/queen size bed. Again i dont know where your getting your info from. A double/double...

I want to first start by saying that I have stayed in NYC, in various hotels, usually 3-4 stars and was very nervous about staying at the Candy Hostel because of some of the reviews. When we arrived, I felt instantly at ease with our decision to stay there. GREAT LOCATION! We walked in, there were several security guards so... more

I was bitten fairly horrendously by bed-bugs on my second night in the otherwise nice room we were staying in. The hostel moved us to another room and were keen to deal with the problem swiftly, but offered little in the way of apology / groveling. more

dont you find it odd that before you guys checked in that there was someone else in that room before that had no issues?? Just to shed some light on the bed bug situation... did you ever consider that you brought them in with you? maybe you were staying at another hotel/hostel before you came to us? many cases have...

My girlfriend and i arrived here on May 4th. We checked in and paid the balance for our double room and were told where to go. On opening the door we were both shocked and disappointed. There was a double bed in the room with no room to move. I had to stand sideways with one case on its end,... more

like i said many many times before if you dont like the room you were first giving ask for another. why would you expect to get a refund for an early checkout when you booked/held the room for ten days? it also states on the front desk that there are no refunds for early checkouts. and i did try to...

I recently stayed at the Candy Hostel with two other friends(a brother and sister) during the Memorial weekend for four nights. We were able to book the hostel for $780 and got two queen beds on the fourth floor. I had previously taken a look at other reviews on the site and knew to bring my print out conformation because... more

Alright. I never wrote a review before (I have a busy life) but this was a bit too much not to say anything. I booked the Candy hostel for 5 nights in May. I also precise that I have been travelling in Thailand, Indonesia, Guatemala....but I have never seen worse. I have to say the people at the reception desk... more

My husband, 10 year old son and I visited the Candy Hostel during Spring Break and had a real good time there. I was very skeptical after reading some of the reviews, but everything worked out just fine. If you want a five star hotel, you should book there accordingly, because you won't find another reasonable place as the Candy.... more

We stayed here for four nights and the best part of the place, by far, is its cleanliness; even our shared bathroom (which I was hesitant to investigate) was almost always very clean. I'd recommend looking at all the bathrooms on your floor (even the more hidden ones) because some are used much less than others. The first floor lounge... more
