Well originally my two friends and I had booked for the Candy hostel but found our room to have been double booked so we where taken next door through the basement (316 west) to the Continental. This hostel was in a great location to the subway(96th street stop) and was alot cleaner and better run than it's neighbor. Value for... more

Paid for a 10 night stay in full on expedia. Turned up at hostel to find them arguing with someone who claimed they were overcharged. The women at reception was swearing at the guest - seemed a bit rude to me. Anyway I waited and asked to check in. They found my reservation but said they had no rooms free.... more

We basically just wanted somewhere safe to crash in the evenings, we weren't in NYC to spend a lot of time in our room, and that’s what we got. There were no rats, bedbugs or... more

Booked early enough where my buddy and I got our room for $38 dollars/night. (about half price) Given most NYC hotels cost $200+ this was a steal. The staff was very friendly, and the common room in the basement was a great way to meet others. Most visitors were from Europe. Would highly recommend and will stay there when I... more
