Reading some of the reviews on here I was a bit nervous about staying. I really don't know what some people expect for the money they pay?!?! The staff were helpful and the accommodation was clean and had everything we needed - ok it wasn't luxury, but for $40 a night in a prime location in Manhattan we didn't expect... more

pictures on the website correspond to reality, the problem is that the reality is way far from what you can see online and cannot be described with picture. the smell was awful, the shower had blood staints in, floor was dirty as hell and we had to go to union square to buy some decent towels and bed sheets. we... more

I write our experience for your good. We reserved and called before to see if everything was ok, when we arrived to cheking in, the 'hotel' (it's not a hotel as they advertise it!) was close. They had a sign in the entrance with a phone number, we called and the 'manager' was in a party! and he said somebody... more

It's neither beautiful nor freshly painted, but on the edge of the trendy "Meat Packing" district and *immediately* next to the subway it's well located. The kitchenette with fridge is useful for longer stays too. All in all fulfilled our needs well at a good price. more

I was desperate to find a hotel for under $200/night at the last minute. It was an ok place and so happy we had our own bathroom. It was clean and we had no problems at all. If you're looking for charm this is not the place for you. Nice location to the subway and Balducci's. We didn't check in... more

My husband & I stayed at Hotel 309 for 3 nights. I would stay here again if we couldn't find a reservation elsewhere, but it wouldn't be my first choice and I would not want to stay here alone. The room was fine (although we were woken by a mouse in our trashcan in the middle of the night (we... more

Ok, it seems there's a consensus around here on some points 1) First and foremost: the information you find on the internet is not true: no hotel. It's just a lousy apartment building with funky tenants. 2) When reading "shared facilities" think of "public facilities". 3) You cannot have a meal cooked and eaten in your room: no supplies (at... more

This place is hell, seriously!Rooms are dirty, unkempt as are the bathrooms. One night there was a horrendous arguement on the stairwell and me and my boyf thought there was going to be a murder, it was so scary! This is not a hotel its a bedsit, it is vile. We stayed for 3 nights before leaving for canada, we were due... more

I'm kind of surprised that anyone in the world would book a hotel room in NYC that is as reasonably priced as the 309 is and expect a luxury hotel. Sure I saw a cockroach but I guarantee you that there are roaches in even the fanciest penthouses in this city. The room was clean as was the bathroom. Their... more

This "hotel" somehow got listed on some B&B websites. Let me tell you it is no B&B. I don't even think it is a hotel, but rather an old apartment building whose management rents out a few of the room to unsuspecting tourists. It's called a hotel but you would not know it by any of the amenities or lack... more
