Stayed at the Alex on one of the hottest weekends of the summer, and enjoyed it immensely. The rooms are very nice and appropriately sized - what you see on the Web is indeed what you get. Though we got a very good rate off an Internet web site, the level of service and amenities is what you get for... more

This was the perfect spot for some 4th of July weekend R&R with special time to host a Brunch for a nephew doing a summer intership at the NY Stock Exchange. The staff is handsome, helpful and so polite. It is a resonable walk to the Theatre District and there is a neighborhood of good restauants steps away. The restaurant,... more

I recently took my granddaughter to NYC for her first time and it was her choice to stay at The Alex Hotel. We loved it! The staff could not have been better in any aspect, and took care of each of our needs quickly and efficiently. They graciously upgraded us to a suite and the added space, full kitchen, and... more

We have just returned from New York and had a wonderful stay in The Alex. The staff are all exremely friendly and helpful and made the visit all the more enjoyable. The rooms are very clean and comfortable (we had a view of the Chrysler Building). We did not eat in the hotel so cant comment on that. But found... more

Stayed at the Alex for two nights as part of a business/pleasure trip. Booked a Studio Suite and asked in the booking for a high floor with view of the Chrysler Building. Guess what...I got a room on a high floor (22nd) with a view of the Chrysler Building. Staff are very helpful and accomodating. The room that I had... more

Overall, it's a typical boutique hotel... IE: high on style, relatively low oN convenience. First of all, ask for a room facing the FRONT of the building. They are MUCH larger than those facing the back or the "lightwell" (the smallest room I've seen in a long time!). Front desk staff excellent overall. No complaints. Courteous staff. Great "operator" at... more

Stayed 3 nights at The Alex the first of May, 2008. One-bedroom suite, every amenity imaginable -- free internet (front desk gives you a cable), obligatory hairdryer & beauty products, robes, slippers. Wonderfully comfortable bed, luxurious linens, fluffy towels, reasonable water pressure. Full kitchen, even a separate "office" area. 3 flat-screen tv's. Was on 11th floor, so minimal traffic noise... more

Stayed here for a week on a business trip during February, having booked it through Expedia where we got an amazing rate (circa £150 per night). For the money, given that hotels in New York can be expensive, this was a bargain. The hotel is nice, with recently decorated contemporary rooms and a boutique feel. Whilst my room was a... more

What a nice tranquil oasis in mid town manhatten. Stayed in a One bedroom suite for 3 nights. A full kitchen with a sub zero fridge , stove , microwave , plates, spoons etc... Free T1 internet, ( bring a long cable). Wood floors. My only fuss would be the bathroom. It is tiny. 24hr room service ( this is... more
