Friendly and helpful concierge staff, however, this is not a 5 star hotel. First of all, the hallway looked like it hadn't been vacuumed in months. It was filthy and disgusting to walk on. There is not enough sound proofing so it was very noisy. You can hear voices from other rooms easily, and doors slamming at all hours of... more

I am so surprised by all the positive reviews for this hotel. I honestly can not figure out how it is rated a five star hotel. To their credit, the service is incredible, but I found the rooms to be in desperate need of an update. I started my stay in a suit that was so dirty and had such... more

Overall, I was pleased with the Taj. The location can't be beat. It was right next to good shopping, restaurants, and sightseeing. The room was large and clean enough, although a bit run down. I understand though that they are about to start remodeling it. The staff was helpful and friendly. I would definately consider staying there again, primarily because... more

What I loved: Location cannot be beat. Perfectly nestled between Boston’s prettiest streets for walking/ shopping / eating and just across the street from the Public Garden Bath products Bedding Furnishings in our suite Lobby flowers Coffee and pastries in the lobby in the early morning The robe. Like a snuggly throw blanket. The towels. Huge, fluffy bath sheets and... more

Traveled to Boston on business and stayed one night with my daughter who lives in Boston. Great location, easy pull up and drop your car off for valet parking. Convenient, quick check in and very courteous service. Great bright colored room with wonderful old architectural details. Fabulous Boston garden view and at night the skyline is spectacular. Had a higher... more

Stayed here recently for a wedding and had a lovely stay. The location is phenomenal in the heart of Back Bay and our room had a great view of the Public Garden. Be sure to ask for a room with a view. I found the staff attentive and friendly. Check in and checkout were easy. As some others have reported,... more

Ok, the title would lead one to think I didn't enjoy my stay - au contraire! It's just that, beyond changing the name and adding some copper fringe to the outdoor canopies, nothing has changed here since it was the Ritz Carlton - the OLD Ritz Carlton. I can understand not wanting to fiddle with a classic, but it's almost... more

My boyfriend and I spontaneously booked the Taj, litererally, last minute via hotels.com. We were eating lunch on Boylston Street and decided we wanted to stay in the city for the evening...While at lunch we used the trusty iPhone and had our stay booked at the Taj, 5 minutes later we walked around the corner and checked in at this... more

Business trip to Boston at the Taj. Our room was clean and was fine for one night. Bathroom is small but because it's an older hotel that was the way they were built. We were on the 9th floor with a great view of the public garden. Lobby is very small with very few chairs for sitting. A short walk... more

First, let me say that I use Trip Advisor constantly for all of my business and personal trips. I travel quite frequently, so I know what constitutes a good hotel, and this one was great! Pros: LOCATION: it is right smack dab in the middle of the action at downtown Boston. It is directly across the street from the beautiful... more
