It was my first time in Boston and I was in town by myself. I wanted to be in a good area but refused to spend $1000 on a few nights stay. I paid $150 a night at this awesome little hotel and was on the "best street in Boston" according to friends and locals. The room was small but... more

Other reviews had warned about the tiny elevator and stairs in all the wrong places for getting luggage around. We had called the hotel ahead of time and reserved one of a handful of parking spots right outside the hotel (via alleyway in back of hotel). It was tight, but okay. The rooms were tiny, but still I said I... more

Excellent location. Staff friendly. Room decent size but decor dark. Very clean room and had iron and hairdryer. Downside was the breakfast, this was terrible. Our room (Room 306) was next to the lift, some creaking every so ofetn, but it did not really bother us, seemed to add to the charm of staying in an old building! Would I... more

I stayed in the Newbury Guest House in May 2008. It is located in the middle of Backbay. Surrounded by great shops, close to Boylston Street and a subway stop is closeby. The room was a bit small, but very acceptable. Breakfast was basic (coffee, croissants and muffins), but it is still nice to have. The only thing that bothered... more

We thought (given info from the web) that there was this wonderful breakfast. (Can't trust all your resources on the internet) Not so. Just continental and so-so. Room was nice, though old windows facing Newbury street let all the noise in. Staff very friendly. Bed not real comfortable (too stiff). Great location. Cost and breakfast was one of the reasons... more

We stayed one night at the end of march. It was a very pleasant experience. The hotel is just finishing renovations in the lobby, but this was no problem. The room was nicely decorated and quite comfortable. Off street parking was a big plus. The hotel is located just 2 blocks from the "T" station. That is best way to get... more

Lovely hotel, charming rooms with period furnishings, friendly and helpful staff, terrific breakfast buffet. Very clean and comfortable. Located on an upscale street and within walking distance to most attractions and/or subway stations. Highly recommend this hotel to anyone visiting Boston. more

We have stayed 5 times at Newbury Guesthouse because the location is so good and the breakfast USED TO BE wonderful. Sadly, gone are the bacon and eggs, replaced with some pretty terrible pastries - THERE IS NO TOAST OR BAGELS OR CEREAL. We had to skip breakfast. In addition as there is no lighting but 2 lamps in the... more

This hotel is in a great location, and we had a fairly decent breakfast included with our room (eggs, bacon, breads, juice, coffee). I'd caution those who are looking for something fancy, as our room was rather small and would never be described as "pretty". I'd recommend requesting a room on the front of the building, as the back faces... more

Location is great, rooms are clean, but the window hadn't been cleaned in months, I had to open it to take a picture of the view across the street. Some of the paint was chipped and the enamel in the sink in the bathroom was cracked. Two lightbulbs were out during the 4 days I satyed. They were remodeling and... more
