I think some of the reviews on here have done this place an injustice. For sure the rooms are basic but they are clean, the staff are very friendly , the breakfast is great and its within a five minute walk of downtown Boston, what more do you want for the price. Yes there are residents around, it's there home... more

I read the review before mine. I'm sorry you guys felt that way. I traveled with my husband and we were so happy for the five days we stayed there. The staff was friendly, The building was old but it was kept very clean and breakfast on the weekends were marvelous nothing like the continental breakfasts served by regular hotels.... more

Okay I realise that it's cheap and a great location BUT no amount of extra money in your pocket is worth the experience of the YWCA! Where do i start! Well.....We felt like we were staying in a mental asylum! and maybe we are a bit crazy for spending three days here! The new prison in Boston a.k.a the ''Glamma... more

I'm a worldly fellow, and I enjoy staying in everything from a seventeen star hotel to the run-down, yet charming hostels that one can find just about anywhere. That being said, I was more than a bit displeased by my brief (thank goodness) stay at the Berkeley YWCA which took place just last week. Now I'm all for the mission... more

Spent two nights at the Berkeley Residence b/c hotels were expensive in the area. There were four of us in two double rooms (two single beds per room). PROS - bedrooms were basic, but clean - weekend breakfast was very good with waffles, pancakes, eggs, bacon, etc. (weekday breakfast is decent with toast, cereal, fruit, and eggs) - location in... more

We stayed in the YWCA for 3 nights recently. Requested for a triple share which wasn't available. Were given single rooms for the same price of a triple share. Found it to be very good value for money, room was very clean, furniture a bit worn out, shared shower facilities. Breakfast included in the price, eggs cooked to order, fruit,... more

I've stayed at the Berkeley Residence twice and also at other moderately priced Boston/Cambridge hotels as well as other Boston hostels. Boston can be very expensive, so during high season the YWCA represents great value. However, during off-season (i.e. January) you can find hotels that charge only slightly more. Pros: Good location--close to restaurants, about 4 long blocks from the... more

We stayed in the YWCA for 2 nights just recently and although it is very basic accommodation (rooms and bathroom), it serves its purpose and is very central. Staff were friendly and there is definitely an...'eclectic' mix of guests...brekkie was good - hot breakfast included in the room rate. Note that you need to provide $2 deposit per towel and... more

I stayed here with a friend for a couple of nights. We opted for a private double room -- 2 twin beds (they also have a dorm style option). The room was comparable to a Motel 6 and our room had a sink in it. After all the walking you do in the Greater Boston area, the beds were just... more

The "Y" is a wonderful, comfortable, homely place. Safe and secure, small rooms, bathrooms are reminisent of summer camp. The staff are all pleasant folks, dining room also "summer camp" style, with a very large and delicious breakfast. I have stayed at the "Y" on several occassions, in fact it is the only place I ever stay at when I... more
