Well we didn't know what to expect from the hotel. The website was good and told you enough but when we got there it was even better. It was so central, only a few blocks from fishermans wharf and you only had to walk a few blocks to get some good food and have some fun. The rooms were just... more

Sam Remo was a pleasant surprise. A *great* location and an excellent price. I can't wait to return. The room was small but comfortable, and really, in San Francisco you're really not going to be spending too much time in it. Next time though, I'd choose a room with a window (mine was an internal room, which was quite warm).... more

We booked a room in the San Remo with a shared bathroom, having traveled frequently in Europe. Although it's a no frills hotel, they do have the nice boutique touches that make it stand out from an el-cheapo motel. The halls, bathrooms and rooms are decorated with San Francisco art and maps, each in a unique frame. The furniture was... more

The San Remo Hotel is in one of the most centrally located areas in San Francisco for sightseeing and easy transportation (if not a little on the tourist - heavy side). Northbeach, one of the most visited Italian neighborhoods in SF, is close to Market Street, Chinatown, the Embarcadero, Financial Dist, etc. It is a European style hotel, which has... more

Been there in April, what I can say is, the location of San Remo is superb! It's very near to all the piers and fisherman wharf (walking distance), and it is also near to the city area (public transport). The room and bathroom condition is clean, and the room was cozy and has a sense of antique feeling for those... more

If you want to stay in a modern fancy hotel with your own bathroom and tv and a doorman with a lift, this is not the place for you. But if you want to stay in a cosy, quaint, spotlessly clean, charming place in a great part of the city, you've come to the right place. The San Remo is... more

We found out about the San Remo through an article on Budget Travel magazine's website, from which we've always gotten great ideas and tips for budget-conscious travel. We made our reservation over the phone, and found the staff to be pleasant. We booked a room with a sink, and were well informed that we would be sharing a bathroom. We... more

San Remo Hotel is without a doubt my favourite hotel to date, I am yet to find another place with such character and coziness. I stayed there with my boyfriend in May '06 first for 5 nights in total. We were trying to travel Las Vegas + California on a "romantic budget", that is, not the backpacker's style but still... more

The hotel is in an italian neighborhood and is ideally located, on Mason between Chesnut and Francisco which is a short walk from the Fisherman's Wharf and Pier 39. This is a budget hotel and the rooms are tiny, there is barely enough space for 2 people and you may not even have enough space to open a bigger suitcase... more

I stayed at many hotels and even the youth hostels in SF, but in terms of what you get for the price, this is by far the best I found! I had a room with a single bed for $70 per night. The hotel's location is just perfect - two blocks away from the cable car stop (Columbus / Mason)... more
