"Deception" seems to be the code word at this lamentable guest house. The cheerful, clean rooms shown on its website bear little resemblance to the sordid reality. After taking a shower at the Ledgelawn, one feels the need of showering again somewhere else where it's clean. Our beds looked as if made by an egg beater. And cold nights were... more

Let me preface this review by saying that my wife and I are B&B loving people. We like the experince and expect ,at the very least, that the property be as nice as our home. In that light, you should know that every negative comment expressed here by others is ABSOLUTLEY correct. DO NOT STAY HERE!!! It is not inexpensive to... more

Just returned from a trip to the Ledgelawn. Surprised that it's not ranked dead last of all of the places to stay in Bar Harbor. Awful is an understatement. The owners are either not trained hoteliers or just don't care. We stayed 3 nights. The place smells musty all around [lobby, "wine bar", breakfast area, our room]. The breakfast area... more

We arrived in Bar Harbor very late in the evening and this was the first hotel having a double room available for two nights. So we decided to stay without checking the room in advance: bad idea!!! The lobby looks ok, but that's all. When we get in our room, we found two towels of the previous guests on the... more

To say The Ledgelawn Inn is dirty is an understatement. It's nasty! The website photos of their property are the ultimate in deception. The ceiling is water-stained and in places falling down. Paint is peeling off the walls. Unfortunately we booked three nights at the Ledgelawn and could not get a refund. The day we checked in I notice a... more

Stayed in Presidential Suite on 7/31 and 8/3 (kayak trip in between). Location is great, as is plant exterior. Lobby is fine, too. Our room, however, needed some paint and had not been thoroughly cleaned. (Ceiling plaster fell in between our visit, and had not been picked up.) Furniture and beds were fine. Swimming pool is filled with debris and... more

This was truly the most disgusting place we have ever stayed. "Filthy" doesn't fully capture the conditions we encountered for our $250 a night room: mold, ants and spiders in the bathroom, shabby bed linens and carpet, peeling paint and unsanitary conditions. Our "gourmet" breakfast the first morning featured a view of cigarette butt and water-filled ashtrays on the porch,... more

We selected the Ledgelawn Inn due to it's convenient location to town and the pet policy (they are pet-friendly). The website also made it look cute. After reserving the room by phone and waiting for several days for an email confirmation, I contacted the inn and was notified that the reservation never "went through" and the person who took my... more

I can see why so many people wrote negative reviews. This place has clearly seen better days. It has potential, but is badly run down and desperately in need of work. The bed in the room that was initially assigned to us was broken. We refused to stay in it (we were justifiably nervous that it might break!) and were... more

I am very surprised to see all the negative reviews. My stay was wonderful in late September. We had a room on the 2nd floor of the Carriage house and it was great. I believe the name of the room was the "Captains Quarters". It had a king-sized Select Comfort sleep number bed and a cute little deck to sit... more
