I chose this place as my destination on the recommendation of my girlfriend who had a blast there. My experience was, however, somewhat different. Their website advertises that there is a free shuttle that will pick you up at the airport. There is not. I had to take a cab and pay about $25. Its not that expensive, but just... more

This is the best hostile i've ever stayed in. I read some bad reviews after i booked it but figured those were by people that really didn't know what to expect from a hostile so i kept my reservation. And i'm SOOOO glad i did. This is the best hostile i've ever stayed in. The staff and owner are so... more

I stayed at the Bungalow from April 3rd to April 20th, and it turned out being the best 18 days of my life. The people and the staff there are absolutely amazing, and they make you feel so welcome. The beds are comfortable, and they clean everything everyday. The Bungalow made my stay so great, and I am planning on... more

Aloha fellow budget travelers, Just got back from a week's stay at this amazing hostel and wanted to let you all know that I gladly give this place two BIG thumbs up! I am a single female and seek out hostel accomodations wherever I travel, both for the commraderie and economical advantages. The Banana Bungalow lived up to it's name... more

I stayed at the hostel with a friend that was not looking forward to sharing a bathroom with others. Since, she wasn't very excited about the bathroom situation we only stayed there our last night. As soon as we checked in and started meeting people she immediatly said, " I wish we stayed here the entire time!" We had a... more

I have been there 3 times and each time has been a blast! The staff is great...friendly, fun, helpful, with only a couple of oddballs thrown in. Met great people from all over and still keep in touch with some. One young man from Switzerland we met on our first visit in 2004 even came to my daughter's wedding! The... more

Frankly, this place is a dive. We went to Maui expecting a lot more, and it is probably our fault that we ended up here due to poor research. To experience Maui, and be anywhere that offers something to do, you need to be on the other side of the island. Kahalui has nothing to offer - and in particular... more

If the type of travel that energizes you is that of Lonely Planet guidebooks, supper from the corner market or food stand, and swapping travel notes in whatever language you find in common, this place is for you. Everyone on my 757 was going to $400/night Condo/timeshares. Not me. Give me BB in the middle of Wailuku anytime. more

Overall, a decent place. Somewhat dirty, grungy, and unkempt, but if you're only planning on sleeping there, it's okay. We tried to stay away during the entire day. Good for young travelers, but not much else. We were disappointed with the lack of friendliness from the staff. The front desk clerk (Hans) was smoking and drinking when we checked in,... more
