My hubby Terry and I stayed at Nona Lani Cottages for a week in January and loved it. We read other reviews so requested a cottage back from the front cottages so the traffic noise didn't bother us. The Kong family are great hosts. They pretty much left us to ourselves but were available if we needed anything. We are... more
We stayed at the Nona Lani in November 2007 based on Frommer's review. We expected a very welcoming, friendly atmosphere as stated in Frommer's, but found the owner unpleasant and unhelpful. The location is noisy, room smelled heavily of bleach and disinfectant when we arrived, and when this dissipated, the odor of mildew or mold was almost as unpleasant. We... more
This is not a 5 star fancy hotel, however it is a true Hawaiian experience. The property sits on a beautiful garden and is directly across a beach which we could see from our porch. In addition to the cottages, they also have rooms in a house in the back of the property. We stayed in one of the cottages,... more
The Nona Lani Cottages has been our 'home-away-from-home' on both of our trips to Maui. We first stayed in 2001and loved being away from the crowds and having quiet time to ourselves whenever we were there. Also being able to drive up to and park right next to our cottage at night was wonderful! This cottage did have old carpet... more
I stayed at the Nona Lani Cottages with my daughter and, althought the cottage was exactly what we wanted, the closeness to a busy road with constant traffic noise was not 100% relaxing. On the plus side, the family who run this place is lovely, the gardens are nice and the price is right. Perhaps I would recommend staying in... more
We loved Nona Lani for a number of reasons. Location is great - in popular Kihei but away from what I call "condo row". A quiet beach is across the street, however at high tide there isn't much of a beach so you have to pay attention to that. Great place to swim and for sunset walks. Single cottages provided... more
I stayed in one of the rooms in the house at Nona Lani Cottages for five nights. It was the perfect place for a solo traveller. The location in Kiehi, more or less central on Maui, was great for touring all over the island. The room was spacious, comfortable and clean. The bed itself was extremely comfortable! My private lanai... more
So, are you looking for that nice, quiet, out-of-the-way place for your stay on Maui? Nona Lani Cottages is your place. On the north end of Kihei, it is close to everything on the island without being crowded. A simple 5 minute drie south and you have a wealth of restaurants and beaches. Well, there is a beach right across... more
We went to the cottages on the advice of neighbors who have gone there for two years. We stayed there at the end of an extended trip. It was the perfect place to unwind and relax. It also gave us the chance to do some cooking which we had missed doing. The setting is very nice...the cottages scattered at friendly... more
