My wife and I recently stayed at hotel lanai and found it dirty and unfriendly. The new owners have allot to learn about the hotel restaurant business. The food was not as good as we heard it was going to be. maybe because the chef does not live on Lanai...I think she lives on maui but who knows..... more attention... more

The Hotel Lanai is a cute little hotel that sits on the high end of the slope facing Dole Park in Lanai City. It's in a great, in town location if you want an authentic, non-resort feel. We stayed in room 2, which was clean and simple. It was one of the rooms with the shared lanai, for which I... more

My husband and I stayed at the Hotel Lanai recently for two nights and thoroughly enjoyed it. It has so much charm and is a very quaint, cute property. This is definitely the place to come if you're looking for a quiet, relaxing and romantic getaway. We stayed in Room 7 and the room is decorated with an old plantation... more

We stayed at Hotel Lanai for three nights in Room 6, toward the back of the hotel. The hotel is very cute, quaint and has a great plantation feel. There are no TV's and the Hotel is set back on a very large piece of property within walking distance of downtown Lanai. Our first night the Lanai City Grill was... more

This review is late, but I've just been introduced to tripadvisor when researching for our honeymoon. I was reading the reviews for Hotel Lanai and I think it's getting a bad rap. The rooms are a bit noisy, but if you request one away from the restraraurant then you'll be okay. The hotel is a quaint small hotel for those... more

As a mainland-based homeowner on Lanai my husband and I were extremely concerned when Clay sold the restaurant and left the island. We felt it was the end of an era and we were underwhelmed by the new ownership. However, many months have passed since then and the restaurant has been completely renovated. Now that we have returned to the... more

As previously noted, the hotel and restaurant are under new management and the food and service pale in comparison. Management was downright rude at times -- No Aloha Spirit here. If you've spent the money to come all the way to Hawaii and Lanai, you would be better served spending a little extra to stay and dine at the Four... more

This small hotel of 11 rooms is the only affordable choice on the island. It is well located in a residential neighborhood a very short walk to the center of town where you will find places to buy groceries, have dinner and buy souveniers. It is on a large property and well insulated from the rest of the neighborhood, up... more

The new owners may be in over their heads as the quality of the meals under the new chef is a far cry from Henry Clay who has sold the property and moved on to Scottsdale. Yes the noise from the dining room is troublesome but compared to the price of either of the Four Season properties - a real... more

My husband and I stayed at Hotel Lanai for two nights at the end of May. We really enjoyed our stay. We learned of Hotel Lanai from the Travel Channel. Lanai took some getting use to after spending the previous five days on Maui. However, once we began to relax and enjoy the slower pace of life on Lanai we... more
