If I'm in Roanoke, VA for business or pleasure, this is always my hotel of choice. I love the feeling you get when you pull up to the front doors and walk into the lobby . . .it is grand, yet cozy and charming. You'll see people in shorts and t-shirts and people in much dressier attire (often ther efor... more

We recently went on a long weekend escape to Roanoke Virginia and stayed at the Hotel Roanoke, despite some of the less-than-stellar reviews on this site. We went for no other reason than to relax and explore the area. I'm a fan of old historic hotels and I thought the Hotel Roanoke did a great job of maintaining the character... more

In a recent trip, we decided to stay at this grand hotel. The front desk sevrvice was great and gracious. The rooms was clean and comfortable. The room service was good and choice of food was above average. The only flaw is probably the valet service whose hospitality seems to be forced, not good as first point of contact. more

I recently stayed for two nights at this hotel after staying here for several nights last year on a business trip. Overall, if you need downtown access to Roanoke, there really is no other choice in the city. However, if you are simply looking for comfortable room--there may be other options you want to consider. The hotel structure itself is... more

I had stayed at the HR probably around 5 years ago for a conference, so I didn't have a problem booking it again since I had not recalled any issues. The hotel has been obviously updated and everything that I saw was only an improvement to my last stay. I was more than pleased with the hotel based on cleanliness,... more

This is a special place for sure. The character of the hotel is apparent upon arrival! Beautifully restored from the outside. When you walk inside you realize they take care of the whole building, maintaining its character while not leaving it to feel dusty... When at this hotel, walk through the whole place. There are some really cool hallways, with... more

Convenient location near city center; lives off of faded glory but overpriced with mediocre service; no discounts off rack rate; lots of extra charges; expensive restaurant; monstrous parking situation - cannot park closer than one block to hotel for which there is a fee and an arduous hike back to building. Standard room with one king bed too small. Much... more

We stayed here one night as a special treat when we were going to be in Roanoke for the symphony. I had not been there since the rehearsal dinner for my college roommate's wedding (long ago!) and I heard it was still nice. Yes, it really is. The entrance, lobby, and halls tell you by their style that this is... more

This is probably our 4th stay at the Hotel Roanoke. The room we were given was fine. A little on the small side, compared to the king bedded Hampton Inn we stayed in the previous night on our journey. The carpet in the hallway was in need of vacuuming. The room was outfitted with nice furniture. We were disappointed that... more

This hotel was remarkable and grand, plus the location in the middle of town was great. The passageway to the downtown market area right in front and the train station was next to that, literally steps away. The lobby area and function rooms looked beautiful, plus the festive Christmas tree and decorations made it nice and cozy. The warm cookies... more
