We arrived early in the day, grounds were beautiful and the Inn is also very cozy, front desk staff were friendly and accomodating . When we entered our room , we were somewhat disappointed, it was small , old and musty, there was no view due to the fact that there was construction going on outside our window. When i... more

We booked our vacation (a week) through Interval International, a timeshare connection. We wanted New England in late September. Then we read some terrible reviews of the Inn at Essex and got very nervous. From the moment we arrived our fears were totally erased. What a friendly staff and what a lovely place. It is quiet and peaceful. Would I... more

This was our first time to the Vermont area and we selected the Inn at Essex to celebrate my husband's 50th birthday. The staff was very friendly and accommodating. The Inn rooms have been recently redone in bright colors and eclectic decor. We stayed in a mini Jacuzzi suite that was very spacious, comfortable, and clean. Be aware that this... more

The hotel is kind of an odd place in a terrific location. It was our first time in Vermont and I highly recommend visiting the area - Burlington is a neat town and there are lots of beautiful areas to go hiking, wallking, etc... The hotel is fine on its face but to be honest it was a vaguely uncomfortable... more

My wife and I read the negative reviews comments posted here and expected only bad things when we checked in for our three day stay on September 21st. Instead we found only good things: a friendly and attentive staff, an immaculate clean and quiet room and gourmet meals cooked by the students and staff o f the New England Culinary... more

I just returned from a two-night stay at the Inn at Essex where I spent nearly $750 for a "superior" suite. I was very disappointed upon arrival. As I requested two beds because I was traveling with my brother (surprise for his birthday) they did not have any rooms with two beds available, so they put me in the superior... more

We were really pleased to book this as the website suggested an excellent hotel........ Our check-in was carried out by someone who must have had a bad day - grumpy and very abrupt. It rather put us off asking questions but thought 'hey ho' we'll look at the hotel guide in the room instead - except there wasn't one there.... more

We chose the Inn at Essex for its Vermont location and its culinary school. While the location is good - close to the Shelburne Museum, which is wonderful and a must see - the cuisine at the inn was disappointing at best. This is a cooking school; therefore, we expected to be impressed with the quality and presentation of the... more
