My husband and I stayed at the Icon June 4 - 8, 2008. The architecture of the hotel was amazing! Our room was very clean and beautifully decorated. All of the staff were friendly, professional, and very helpful. We ate at Voice one night, and our meal was very, very good. My husband claimed it was the best steak he... more

I always start with the positive. I grew up in Houston and was in town for two nights attending a reunion. It was a getaway weekend for my husband and I and we were really excited to get a great rate thru the hotel website. The location was stellar. Our event Saturday night was litterally steps away from the hotel... more

The Hotel Icon is nestled in downton Houston's historic district and boasts easy access to restaurants, shopping and theaters. My stay was for four short days but overall it was one of the best experiences that I have had at a U.S. hotel. The room was spacious and comfortable and the bathroom was huge by comparison to what I am... more

I had a great stay at the Icon. I found the staff to be very friendly and overly eager to accomodate special requests. It was a nice touch that I was upgraded to a deluxe suite (which I highly recommend, as there is a jetted bath tub) at no additional charge, since they were not overbooked. Concierge service was very... more

In the past few years, I have stayed at the Icon well over a dozen times. Management changed in April 2008 and the new crew has no idea what it's doing. Worse, they really don't care. The Icon has long been my Houston hotel of choice due to it's downtown location and excellent restaurant, Bank, as well as it's gorgeous... more

Management response from
JSS23, Managing Director

As Houston's VOICE of Luxury, Hotel ICON strives to deliver attentive, personalized and a high level of service. Since the purchase of the hotel in 2006, management has been in consistent state of rebuilding, training and optimization of offerings and services. Regrettably, those high levels of service can occasionally fall short as was the case in this instance. Hotel ICON...

I usually always stay at the Icon when on business in Houston (especially when my meetings are mainly downtown..). I like the vibe of the hotel...upscale, great design, comfortable beds and fantastic bathrooms. Breakfast is also good and the bar is very cool. I understand the point about varying room sizes. However, I've been lucky on my last few trips... more

After reading the reviews in this site we thought we had made a good choice. We should have known that it was not going to be a good experience as even making a reservation was difficult. First of all, it took three tries to actually speak to someone t make a reservation, they either didn't answer the phone, were put... more

Where do I begin? Stayed here for our 5th Anniversary on a 1-nighter. I had a Deluxe Room but then when I got there asked if the Junior suite was available and it was for only $30 more. So we ended up getting that room and what a room it was. The room was big, not huge but much bigger... more

This Hotel is on the North side of town, but on the tram line to cheaply and easily get to other parts of town. The building is very old looking outside, but has been redone beautifully inside. The restaurant was still being completed, but I can tell it will be incredible (they showed me the work in progress). I was... more

I have found so many great hotels on Tripadvisor, I wasn't too worried about their #1 pick in Houston. Let's say it was a real disappointment... On the outside and inside, the hotel looks very posh. They used the bank motif quite well. But when I checked in, the quality started dropping. It took 7 minutes to get someone to... more
