We were going to see a concert at the American Airlines center, so we chose this hotel as it is very close. Conveniently, They have a shuttle driver who dropped us off at the concert venue. After the concert, we walked back with no problems. There are plenty of bars and nightclubs withink walking distance: Hooters, Dicks Last Resort and... more

Booked a last minute trip through Travelocity at the West End Hotel. The location was great - within walking distance to many restaurants and bars, as well as several other attractions. The hotel is older but in good shape and the staff was super friendly. I won't lie and say the hotel is perfect but you did have to look... more

We just returned from the Cotton Bowl game and our stay at the West End Hotel. I have to say that we were quite pleased. The staff was courteous, very accommodating, and fulfilled all requests. Our rooms were clean and all utilities functional. The complimentary hot breakfast was excellent, and even with the packed house of Missouri and Arkansas fans... more

I chose this hotel based on the reviews here at Trip Advisor, but found my experience to be less enjoyable than some others. The hotel will soon be converted to a Crowne Plaza, and perhaps some of the problems I encountered will be corrected at that time. Although this is a mid-range property, there are a few expectations that were... more

This is a very good hotel with a friendly checkin desk, good lifts, excellent rooms which almost match a Westin but at a fraction of the cost. I cannot fault the room one bit. Good size, comofrtable bed, nicely decorated and a good bathroom. The location is superb near the DART station and also a few blocks from the JFK... more

Liked the location, parking was ample in the garage. Continental breakfast was very nice. Room was furnished nice, and the wirleless internet was above average. Would stay here again. None of the homeless people in the vicinity were agressive to me as some have stated. They, of course, asked for donations but I firmly told them no and they left... more

This is my second visit to this hotel within the month of September (2007). The worst complaint is the 10th floor hallway reaked of sewage and you could visibly see plastic covering the carpet on the floor and some sort of liquid. My roomate and I both awoke sick, with a sorethroat and a cough. The bathroom sink was clogged... more

I am a frequent traveler in and out of big cities. I always read Trip Advisor to get a feel for the area. I must admit that I was leary about staying in downtown Dallas. I stayed last year at the four star Magnolia hotel, but didn't want the high expenses this year. So decided to look elsewhere. I was... more

I'm not crazy about downtown two star properties, but this was nice inside. Mass transit trains on one side, lots of city buses on the other with a variety of inner-city urbanites coming and going at all hours. The street noise was very bad, even on the 24th floor. The historic Book Depository is close by along with restaurants in... more

We stayed there for a night en route to another city in Texas, and I have absolutely no complaints. Yes, there are a lot of people hanging around the place, but as another reviewer pointed out, the hotel shares the block with a transit hub and most of these people are harmlessly waiting for the train or bus. I never... more
