I had read that the hotel had been refurbished, but our room, though of reasonable standard had not been refurbished recently. We arrived early and the reception staff were most helpful and asked us to take a seat in the bar while they checked if our room was ready. Around 5 minutes later the receptionist found us and gave us... more

We booked a weekend break at the Marine as a quiet get-away. Quiet it was not. We were put in the furthest away room in the hotel, which was cold and had a very noisy toilet flushing system. When we contacted reception just after checking in, they said they couldn’t do anything until Monday because there were no maintenance staff... more

Having read mix reports on the hotel, we were pleasently suprised when we arrived. We booked a family break for two days with our two children. Reception were efficient and friendly and we had a lovely deluxe room overlooking Royal Troon suitable for our family. The hotel has a fantastic leisure club and a great swimming pool suitable for young... more

My friend got a reasonable deal on price and was expecting a bargain as the Marine had such a good reputation. WE should have checked the trip advisor ! Receptionist was on phone to her friend for at least 5 minutes before she decided to check us in. She was nice enough but room was at back of hotel. Up... more

Just back from an overnight stay at the Marine. Bedroom was fine if not a little small. We went down for dinner to be greeted with a wedding party in the dining room. You couldnt hear yourself speak. Bored children running about. We asked to be shifted to a quiter part of the restaurant. Clearly the wedding was running over... more

We stayed at the hotel last weekend saturday 15th and stayed for one night, whilst the room was of a good standard and reception welcoming and efficient We[and others in our party ] experienced the worst breakfast service on the sunday i have ever experienced. There was a complete lack of staff and food [both hot and cold] and the... more

My wife and I were looking forward to a 3 night break in Ayrshire and chose the Marine as a cut above for our stay. What a terrible let down. This is supposed to be a 4 star establishment which many 3 star hotels could beat hands down. It supposedly has had a 4 million pound refurbishment in recent years... more

Slow service at reception, slow service in the Bar. The lift is defective and no due date for repair. No irons and ironing boards in the rooms, and the service to get one to the room is very slow. Staff appear dour and humourless. Pity, really, because this could be a great little hotel. The view is magnificant, and, if... more

Amazing location...historical setting adjacent to Royal Troon golf course. Wonderful "feel" in a great old building and its historical attachment to the British Open. Great view of the course and the bay. Easy access to Troon center of town by walk or taxi/car...and nearby Prestwick and Ayr. Nice lounge and restaurant (we had b'fast only here) and patio overlooking the... more
