We have traveled extensively both in the states and out and our favorite fall trip has always been Hilton Head. We (couple) have stayed at Monarch on several occasions and have always loved it. The fall is a wonderful time to be there especially for couples. Monarch sits directly on the ocean and walking the beach is one of the... more

We have stayed at Monarch from the moment the ocean front building opened. Yes, there are some problems but frankly they seem to be with folks that want a "resort". We are a family oriented timeshare where most of us cook and like to have our own facilities to cook. We do not want to pay the cost of bringing... more

My family and I returned from our stay at the Monarch and we were a bit disappointed. This was our first year using our timeshare. We own in Palm Desert at a brand new resort, so maybe that is why the Monarch did not live up to our expectations. Our villa was still being cleaned at 4 p.m. on check-in... more

Marriott should be ashamed to be associated with this property. I am a loyal Marriott customer. I am also a time share member thru Marriott and was "duped" into thinking this was a "resort". Give me a break. There were absolutely no amenities at this location. The pools were small, there are no bars or resturantss on property ( you... more

We stayed here 3 nights as part of a Marriott time share promotion. I will not go into a long description as there are already many on this site. However I will say we encountered no problems/dirt/mold/rust or worse. The resort was clean, quiet and in a wonderful location. It is 30 years old but appears to have been recently... more

This should not be called a resort. All other resorts we have stayed at had many more activities. They call it an Oceanfront resort and we could not see the ocean from our unit. The staff at the front did not offer advice when when confronted with problems. Bicycles that were left to rent were all broken but easily fixable,... more

We traded our Marriott time share in Aruba for a week in the 48 statesduring spring break, March 10-17. Our unit was freshly remodeled and was in perfect working order for us. Given that spring break can be very noisy wherever you stay, we were relieved that noise was never a problem. Hiton Head is a great place to stay... more

The only good thing I can say is that the Monarch is right on the beach and is in a beautiful location. Other than that, we were extremely disappointed with the condition of our unit. The furniture, appliances, etc were outdated and in desperate need of renovation. Unless this resort is completely renovated, I would not recommend it. more

We traded our time share week for this resort. We thought it was great. Hilton Head Island is a an amazing place. There is so much to do: bike riding, nature walks, great beaches, kayaking, shopping, good pools and short drives for day trips to Savannah and Charleston. We liked the Monarch. The staff was friendly, they had a good... more

We stayed at the Monarch at the end of August this year, having stayed there at about the same time the year before. It is just in the most perfect location, literally right on what must be one of the best beaches anywhere. I would agree that the property is not as pristine in terms of decoration as some newer... more
