Stayed in September for a Penn State game. Good hotel in a great location - close to everything. Hotel room was comfortable and clean. Front desk was responsive at check in, check out, and during requests we made in between. more

Our experience began with a rather unfriendly start as I approached the front desk to ask a simple question regarding parking. An unfriendly woman desk clerk answered my question but not without attitude and a sense of 'you are bothering me'. Upon check in, I was asked how many parking passes we needed. Having met up with old roomates for... more

We were checked in by an unpleasant young woman and things went downhill from there. We were in Rm 429, which is across the service elevator. When we got to the hotel at about 3 pm, there was a whole bunch of used towels strewn by the service elevator. We went and toured the campus and came back about 6... more

This Hotel should have just taken a gun stole my wallet. We stayed in this non-smoking hotel that provided moderate accommodations. When I received my visa bill, I noticed an extra charge for $250 added to my account. When I called the hotel, they explained that it was because the maid smelled smoke in the room and that they have... more

The Atherton has a great location within walking distance to restaurants, shopping and campus. Our room was clean and nicely decorated (if English manor prints are your thing). The bed was comfortable and our room was very quiet. Room service breakfast was on time and reasonably priced. The restaurant was lovely with good service. On the downside, I found check-in... more

I stayed at the Atherton Hotel one night this past week. The hotel was OK and I reviewed my bill when I checked out. It had the agreed one night charges. This weekend when I reviewed my credit card bill there was an extra $250 charge from the Atherton on my bill. I assumed it was an error and called... more

The best thing about the hotel is the location. Great for walking around town and bar hopping. Was there for 2 night for a reunion for a friends 40th birthday. I travel a lot and get to see a lot of hotel rooms. This room was average for the most part. The A/C was a bit old and not that... more

The A/C unit in my room did not work properly, resorted to opening window to cool off. There was mold and peeling walpaper in the bathroom as well. The Atherton was a complete dissapointment in this regard. The hotel resteraunt was very nice, however, but expensive. I would not book another room here if I were to travel to State... more

Recently stayed at the Atherton for 2 nights for a wedding and had booked the "suite" for a little extra room and figured that the 150% increase in rate from a regular room to the suit would be worth it. WRONG. When was the last time this hotel actually looked at the bathrooms in these suites? They are old, dingy,... more

We stayed here for the Blue Chip Basketball tournament. Although it books quickly through the tournament housing, there were still rooms on line. The rooms were fresh, clean, roomy and attractive. The location is awesome, within walking distance of everything that is State College PA. We ate in both the restaurant and the bar, with delicious food, friendly service and... more
