First two days Ok. Lovely beach amazing view. Then was seriously ill with S&D, spent 5 days in room. Had local doctor out when I passed out through severe dehydration. Paid to cut short our holiday returning after one week instead of two, as I was not going to improve at this resort and had no confidence in the Reps+... more

We returned from our two week honeymoon nearly two weeks ago and we're STILL suffering with gastric flu, as a result of this holiday. Flies, flies and yet more flies. On the drinks machines, on the cups, on the straws, on the plates, on your body, on the food, stuck in the food, baked into the food. Awful. Simply awful.... more

The week prior to leaving I was reading all the reviews and I nearly cancelled the holiday, but we glad we did not as my family had a wonderful time and some of you need a big reality... more

We visited Cape Verde knowing there was little to do and in this we were not dissapointed. We chose the Garopa for its 5* and facilities. However, i would class this hotel as 2 or 3* only. The reception was excellent and check in was quick and efficient. The rooms were clean and other than on a few ocassions plenty... more

I loved the place so much I am booked to return in October 2008. Yes it is a little shabby in parts, but this is a third world country working hard to get the facilities we travellers demand. The Thomson flights were excellent, the extra legroom and the interactive monitors made the flight seem much shorter than the 5 hours... more

I wouldnt call this a 5 star hotel but realistically with the cost of fuel etc today you are not going to get a real 5 star for the money. Overall the hotel is good and the food is ok. The buildings look more arabic in design and are not overly attractice. GOOD BITS, a great beach, fun waves and... more

My boyfriend and I have just arrived back from 2weeks at the Riu Garopa and really enjoyed our trip. I think the Thompson rep. got it spot on when she described landing on Sal like 'landing on the moon'. The landscape is extremely barren, with the occasional building site and future hotel complex springing up. I'm not an expert, but... more
