We were in Riu Funana for a week from 18 August and had a great time. We found the staff work flat out to please and the set up of the resort was good. Our only neg. report is we thought that the resort was too big for that 'get away from it all' feel but overall a good time... more

Went on the 5th Aug 08 till the 19th Aug with my husband and two son's 7 & 12. Flight was very good. When we booked we asked for a family room, did not get this. Two single beds pushed together and a camp bed for both my boys to sleep in. The room was open plan so not much... more

Recently stayed at this hotel with a friend (we are both 34) and her 10 year old son. Good points from stay to note: 1) Hotel facilities generally very good, lovely pool, and hotel spotlessly clean. Good childrens facilities. 2) Any issues (air con in room broke, sink broke twice) - were dealt with swiftly and efficiently. Bad points to... more

Flying over the island feels like you're landing on the moon. The island is barren and desolate. On arrival at the hotel we were very impressed - our room was large, comfortable and very clean. They say it is the sister hotel next door - in reality it is one large hotel which share the facilities - the evening entertainment... more

This is no way a 5*/4T resort. This was the worst holiday we have ever had. 4 of us travelled and 3 out of 4 of us went down with the "Mystery" Virus a huge number of other guests also went down with it. My husband and I are now under our GP as this is now the 13th day... more

We stayed at the funana between 12-26th August. We arrived on the Tuesday, good flight, initial impressions of the hotel were good. Spacious room, well set out, fantastic beach, beautiful clear turquoise sea large pools and lots of staff. Then on Wednesday evening the sickness started followed by the runs then the cramps!! Spent two days in room and only... more

Stayed at the Funana for 2 weeks, (5th to 19th Aug). Excellent flights both journeys, however airport at Sal is tiny and not enough seating for a plane load of travellers. Booked a twin room for our teenager son and daughter, however was allocated 2 doubles. Took a couple for trips to reception to get it sorted and was moved... more

Just got back from holiday myself, partner, two kids and toddler. All got food poisoning. Sixty other British guests has similar compliants and have complained to hotel and Thomsons. Two women and two children had been hospitalised during our stay. Tap water was used by staff to wash items. Food left in open and not covered in restaurants and flies/insects... more

My husband and I spent our honeymoon at the Funana in May 2008. We did have a good holiday; it was good value for money and there was a lot of choice in the restaurants. The hotel staff were very helpful and the resort was always clean. We loved the entertainment in the evening and were pleased that the all... more
