The pictures on the site are no way near what the accomodations really are. Our accomodations were mediocre. If you are used to 4 and 5 star hotels, this is not the place. This is more like an upscale bed and breakfast (which can often be very nice, but not what we are used to). Seemed as though the Manor... more

Montauk is like a scene from an old, and not particularly good, Agatha Christie novel. Our room/suite was OK with reasonable kitchen facilities and 2 bathrooms but the hotel itself was disappointing. Its a big place that involves a lot of walking around, the lifts are from the 18th century, and there is piped piano music in the entrance 24... more

This was our first visit to Montauk and the first leg of our summer vacation so we wanted to book something a bit special. Overall, we were disappointed by the experience. The Manor advertises itself as a castle. And its very pretty from the outside. The Lobby, too, has an old castle feel. But thats where it ends. There was... more

I am really mystified that there are any positive reviews of Montauk Manor on TripAdvisor. We traveled to Montauk Manor in August of 2008 and we were extremely disappointed. First of all, the roomy are very dingy and old. Our shower curtain was particularly dirty and mildewed. The bed was very hard and the linens and blankets seemed dirty and... more

We spent four days at the Montauk Manor on the week of August 2nd. We stayed in room 304 . We have stayed in the Manor before, but we usually try to stay in rooms 133,134, or 135. Being we went in the middle of the summer, we did'nt book early enough & those unbelievable rooms were booked. The room... more

Montauk Mannor promises much. It is a "grande dame", built in 1927 and refurbished sometime within the last twenty years. It calls itself a resort. But I would go there only as a last resort. From our initial greeting - A grunt and a demand, "name". Not hello, not welcome, not even a smile. But wait, it gets better. The... more

The Montauk Manor is magnificent. The food was good. The staff was wonderful. The life guards were always looking for safety first, the front desk could not be more accommodating with every request. The restaurant staff is great; you can go in for breakfast, lunch, dinner or just desserts. Mario in the restaurant was exceptional if every establishment had such... more

My husband and I went to the Montauk Manor from Friday- Sunday to celebrate our 9th wedding anniversary and had the greatest weekend. My husband was instructed by the person at the front desk via phone to check out Room 134. We could only get it for Friday night so we had a different room for the second night. Room... more

Arriving on a beautiful day to celebrate our anniversary, we were greeted with construction crews all over the property beginning with three story scaffolding which made what was supposed to be a picturesque frontage unsightly. After checking in for our honeymoon suite, we were again greeted by unsightly paper runners covering the just cleaned carpet. That paper would remain in... more

Management response from
Johnnjersy, General Manager

As General Manager I would like to respond to Caveat Emptor: The scaffolding is on the East Side of the building, therefore, impossible to see from where the guests were staying. The first day, before the guests checked in, the first floor public hallway on the West Side of the building was being shampooed and a paper runner was put...

Always a nice place to stay in. Roaring fireplaces in the winter in the main lobby area. Bring a great book, magazine, Sunday Times and a nice drink. Relaxing rooms. Clean clean clean. Wil stay again and again and agian. more
