I stayed there for almost two months while working temporarily in Reno and the place is pretty bad. Definitely cheap and I knew what I was in for when I checked in with the renovation. The area around the hotel is not very good with plenty of sketchy characters hanging around nearby. The hotel staff are even sketchier though as... more

This is one of the best hotels I have ever stayed at. The 1st night was the worst cause they gave us the wrong room & then the AC went out. After the AC went out we called & they upgraded us to there top floor king suite which was very beautiful inside & the view was really nice. Very... more

We were arriving to Reno late, so I took the time to book a hotel thru Expedia. When we arrived at 11pm the main door had a chain and padlock on it. Around the corner the restaurant entrance was locked and no lights were on. And the phone number from the Expedia reservation was disconnected. To top it all off,... more

I found the Reno Regency staff to be friendly and most courteous. The hotel is under major construction in all areas of the building and warnings of this are CLEARLY posted! The staff is doing the best they can for guests. The hotel is also home to permanent residents who are also friendly and helpful. Located in the oldest part... more

We were there for a weekend- took a weekend tour from San Jose. We arrived there about 5:00 p.m. on saturday. By looking at the place it looked as if it were going to be knocked down for restoration. It was pitch black with wooden crates in the lobby and no one at the front desk. There were very rude... more

Stayed at the Reno Regency for two nights with my son and found the outside and the area to look iffy but I feel that the room was way under it's value. I have NO problems with the room at all. The hotel is and was undergoing a lot of renovations in the lobby and outside and the amenties were... more

I planned a quick trip to Reno and chose this hotel because it was reasonably priced and since I was only staying one night, that seemed as good a reason as any. Wow, was that a bad decision. Not only did my key refuse to work in the door ( I had to go back down to the front desk... more

First thing I noticed was that the Marquee lights were not on at night. The second was the smell of smoke in the lobby. There were several, what appeared to be homeless, people hanging out in the lobby. The room was clean and not smelly. No towels in the room. Had to call room service. No cups, either. Maid sevice... more

I want to say a few words after reading the other reviews. I stayed at the Speakeasy Hotel two months ago, and I had none of those problems some people wrote about! I am a writer, so I spend lots of time alone in my room. I'm particularly sensitive about noise, but the Speakeasy was one of the quietest hotels... more

My wife and I booked 8 days in Reno at the Sands and they couldn't extend us for a 9th day... a Saturday so I went on Hotwire and got the Speakeasy..... blindly. After I read the tripadvisor reviews, we thought about heading back to Sacramento instead. Well, we did check in and the lobby was basically a shut down... more
