Based on the reviews in "TripAdvisor", I decided to take a chance and stay at the Lamplighter. It sounded like a nice "Mom and Pop" place and it was, but "Pop" turned out to be younger than me!!. We stayed in the "Garden Room", and it was nicely decorated, and well laid out for a family with kids. The room... more

We knew nothing about this motel but booked it based on previous reviews. I'm so glad we did because it is exactly what everyone says. Clean, comfortable and perfectly located. We discussed our needs with Terry, the owner, prior to booking and he suggested the themed room, Granny's Cottage. It was perfect for us (a little roomier, nice efficiency kitchen... more

We booked this motel for 2 nights during our road trip around Lake Michigan. I won't go into this too much, because many previous posters said it all,. Other than clean rooms, and pleasant service here are my main 2 points: The location is PERFECT. Residential street, 2 blocks to main tourist street, 2 blocks to a fantastic view of... more

This is a sweet little motel that is clean, quiet, and wonderfully well maintained. I stayed in one of the "themed" rooms for one night, and in a standard room the next night. The "themed" room was creatively decorated according to a dragonfly theme, and the attention to detail was amazing. The room was quiet and clean. The standard room... more

July 14, 2008 We had reservations at one of the many beachfront hotels we've enjoyed in Mackinaw City over the years ,and all have been just fine, but to celebrate our 20th anniversary we wanted an adventure. No kids, just Nancy and I. After much success using tripadvisor we chose the Lamplighter as a result of the reviews, and was not... more

When we booked a night at the Lamplighter we thought we were really taking our chances since we NEVER stay at motels, but we were really pleased. For $80 we stayed in the Lighthouse Room, which was actually two bedrooms, perfect for our family of four. While the rooms weren't the most spacious ever they were very clean and comfortable... more

I stayed at The Lamplighter Motel based on the previous reviews on this website and was not disappointed in the least. The grounds were immaculate and the efficiency I had was more than adequate for my needs. With gas prices being what they are, it was nice to be able to park the vehicle and walk to everything. Terry, the... more

Quite a delay in this review, but my wife and I arranged a last minute trip to reward ourselves over Memorial Day weekend. We spent many weekends at Mackinaw and decided that we would based our choice of motels on price, since most of our time would be out exploring. This was our first pleasant surprise: the motel was about... more
