We were shocked, when we arrived there! We needet to get drunk to be able to sleep there for one night. The next morning we immediately left. It was dirty all over the place. With bedbucks in the beds and dirt all over. But we also have to admit that it is very easy to meet nice people there and... more

Many people write reviews after there first time travelling, this was the last leg of a world tour. I have stayed at 30-40 hostels. This hostel was like a tardis, small on outside, but nice inside. nice staff, free surfboard hire, free wifi of 6 MB, right next to beach. I also stayed at the Cotel for one night and... more

Fantastic location right next to Venice Beach. Common area is awful - no equipment in kitchen (only 4-5 spoons and cereal bowls for whole hostel), smoking allowed in lounge area open to kitchen with heaps of ashtrays around. We had a private ensuite double room that came with a computer and internet access (fantastic unexpected bonus), tv and even a... more

This hostel wasn't as bad as the other hostels we stayed at. We stayed in a private bedroom with private bathroom. The only real problem i had with it was when we were checking in I had to stay downstairs with the luggage while my husband went upstairs to check in. It took him about 10 mins to find someone... more

We found the Venice Beach Hostel at 1515 Pacific Avenue in Venice CA via Craigslist.org. How can I put this nicely....It was the most vile, disgusting, stomach-turning experience I have ever had ever in all of my world travels and this doesn't even include the bedbugs and the urine-soaked room. My boyfriend and I booked a private room under the... more

There were a lot of head-cases at the hostel when we were there. Too many crazy stories to recount. Definitely an eye-opening experience. more

We stayed in the Venice Beach Hostel on the 6 Sep and we were appalled and disgusted at the state the hostel was in. We paid extra for a private room but weren't informed at the time of booking that the private room is actually located a few streets away in a different building on a busy main road. On... more

The hostel is actually on Yale Avenue. The washington blvd address is an annex for when the hostel is full. I stayed at the main hostel on yale and really enjoyed it. The staff were really friendly and it was a very social hostel. It could have been a little cleaner but it wasn't bad. I don't know what the... more

Well, we stayed there over a year ago, so maybe the manager is right and it has changed, but reading the first person's comments about this place brought back so many memories. We also arrived in LA with a booking at the Yale Ave property, but upon arrival found that we were shunted into the "annex" on Washington. (and yes,... more
