My wife and I visited the Sun-n-Sand Lodge for a long weekend to just get away to Tahoe. We chose this particular location for the price and convenience to Carnelian Bay and CA/NV border. A quick run-down on this run-down motel. Rooms: -$69/night -We needed to pay before staying, a little different than usual. -Dated and not very clean. -The... more

My buddies & I went up for a skiing weekend at Northstar and the closest & cheapest place we could find was this place. First we were skeptical because of the low price, but after checking in we were really pleased. The staff was very friendly and the rooms were very large and clean. They had free wi-fi and free... more

A nice and very apologetic person at the Sun 'n Sand moved us from room to room when we arrived to try and get one where everything worked. That was a challenge. Finally we shorted our stay by a day which we knew technically we should have to pay for, but since we'd had so many problems we asked if... more

however, was a disaster. To make the long story short, we inquired about canceling our reservation and were told that we will not be charged if they re-rented the room. We communicated that it was OK and we will stay in it if it were not rented. We called in the evening and were told that our room was rented... more

We stayed at the Sun-n-Sand at Kings Beach, CA on Lake Tahoe in August of 2007 and had a terrible experience. We were staying for two nights, and got in late Friday. The manager woke us up and demanded payment at 9 AM even though she had our credit card. When I complained to her about this she threatened to... more

After reading all the reviews, once I had already made my reservation (big mistake), I definitely wondered what I was going to find for my $150.00 a night ! It's been quite a while since I traveled, so the price alone, came as a shock to me. I have to say that this would not be my first choice next... more

Horrible! Dirty! Smelly! Don't make the mistake that we made. Travelworm charged us $86 the first night and $117 the second night to stay here. It is not worth more than $20/night! Motel 6 is like a 5 star hotel compared to this place! They put us in the wrong room to start. The furnature had dirty footprints on it!... more

This place isn't luxurious in any sense of the word, but it's just fine to stay in for a couple nights. It's pretty old and the beds were a little stiff, but there was a decent shower and mini fridge, microwave, and TV. The view is beautiful, the location is great (an easy walk to Kings Beach, Rite-Aid, and great... more

I would advise against staying at this hotel. While I was out skiing, my cell phone and wallet were stolen from the room. The manager admitted that this was the second theft in the last month. However, the owner refused to compensate me in any way. In looking for my stuff, I looked under the bed in case it had... more
