This is a very attractive hotel, fairly close to LAX, with clean rooms and a flat panel TV complete with Direct TV! However, there was a fee for parking, something I expect at regular Marriotts, but not at the Courtyard chain. We stayed in 7 hotels in the past 2 weeks traveling from TX to CA. This was one of the nicer ones. Location is near the Santa Monica beaches and across the street from the Hillcrest Cemetary (Jewish cemetary) where Al Jolson is buried. Front desk was very accommodating and quick. When I travel I always stay at a Marriot and this one is no longer my list. Day of arrival asked for lower floor (2, 3 or 4th) and quite. I had to take the 5th floor to get a quite room. This courtyard, which seems to cater more towards business travelers, had quite the mix of guests. I saw business travelers and quite a few families with young children. The good: The lobby was very nice and our room was well furnished, including a flat screen TV and a Herman Miller Aeron chair. Just stay a couple of hours due to a long LAX airport conection coming from HKG New hotel with all Courtyard standarts and more. Oversize safety deposit box, plasma TV. I find staff very helpfull. Extra towels were in my room upon arrival. more
