Had a wonderful room with uninterrupted view of the sea. A meal in the Pacific Edge is a must , although the sevice was a little too impersonal for my liking. Dined most nights outside at the Market restaurant, food was good but service could be patchy. Room service for breakfast was good, but pricey. Make sure you have a... more

Highlands Inn is a good place if you're looking for an amazing view. The suites are nice and spacious, but could use some updating. If you're just looking for some R&R, then this is the place for you. My husband and I are in our late 30's and felt that it was a bit boring at times, but we still... more

Just returned from a long weekend ( Sat- Mon) stay at Highlands Inn. I booked the stay for September, as the summer months can be cold and foggy, like SF This is my third visit to Highlands Inn and everytime the weather is cold, including this time! My Mom came with me, so we made it a girls weekend. I... more

My husband and I decided to splurge for our first anniversary and booked two nights at the Highlands. Unfortunately, given the amount of money we spent ($700/night for a full ocean view), it's hard not to feel like we made the wrong decision. The pros: The view was absolutely breathtaking. The hotel overlooks the ocean, and it's beautiful to watch... more

...but absolutely perfect. I am bothered by the complaints about the weathered exteriors because the hotel WAS built in 1915, and I appreciate the fact that they have maintained the natural charm of the resort. Plus, the room interiors and the public areas have been updated beautifully. The townhomes have perfect layouts and, as others have said, jaw dropping views.... more

We had previously stayed at the Tickle Pink Hotel, located next door to the Highlands Inn, and were looking forward to 4 nights spent in this beautiful area. Unfortunately, we were extremely disappointed. After waiting until after 4:00 for our room to be ready, we were finally shown to a room that was substandard, to say the least. For sure,... more

Incredible views, romantic setting, on site fine dining... all at a price. This is an old established venue, and with that you get the mature trees, the rooms set into the hillsides and a vista second to none. You also get weathered buildings and sometimes older furniture, but the experienced traveler should always ask in advance for the refurbished rooms... more

A great location, and great views, however the front desk lady was extremly rude,on check in. The rooms are in serious need of remodeling , as they are quite tatty for what they charge. If you were paying $100 then they are fine, but foe $600 they are not up to an acceptable standard. Had various other small issues during... more

We just returned from our 20th Anniversary trip and we stayed at the Highlands Inn, Carmel. It's nice that the hotel gave us a suite high up in the hill with a beautiful view of the ocean, the cove, and Point Lobos State Park. Shortly after we checked in, they also sent in a bottle of chilled champangue and chocolate... more

We went down to The Highlands Inn for a weekend and had a wonderful experience. The employees were all very friendly, especially the two cocktail servers we encountered and Brian with the Bell staff. Our room was beautiful, which I was a little nervous about due to past reviews. By the pictures, it appears you need to request a renovated... more
