Taiyuan is in the middle of China's coal country so the overall city is quite dirty. However the economy is booming. I was amazed when staying at this hotel. It seems like they hired someone from Shangri-la group to decorate the rooms, choose beds etc. It's that good. King beds with down-lined mattress covers.
