I agree with the reviews here about the quality of the accommodation. On arrival I thought I was walking into a Tolkein novel...the rooms look like something a hobbit is about to walk out of. The decor and design are certainly unique - the main lodge feels like you are drinking in a Salvador Dali painting and everything is melting... more

Wow!!!! That's all you can say when you arrive. It's difficult to add anything useful to previous reviews, the welcome, the staff, the room, the views (no17 South Lodge), the food, the fire and electric blanket, the company - it's all exemplary. Aziza was a great guide and successfully took us birding as well as looking for all the mammals.... more

We just returned from our honeymoon in Tanzania where we stayed at the Ngorongoro Crater Lodge for 4 nights (we also stayed at CC Africa’s Klein’s Camp in the Serengeti and at the Breezes Beach Club and Spa in Zanzibar). My wife and I are both seasoned travelers and have been all around the world, but the Ngorongoro Crater Lodge... more

The Ngorongoro Crater Lodge is perched at the edge of a seemingly endless crater, filled with wildlife wonders... the sea of pink flamingos behind a herd of galloping zebra is unlike anything I have ever experienced! And the stay at the Crater Lodge was just as magical. A herd of zebra were peacefully grazing on the front lawn of the... more

Like everyone says, this place is over the top luxury--the largest, most sumptous, most opulently decorated accomodation I have ever stayed in, but still with an African/safari vibe despite the crystal chandeliers. The spectacular view; fireplace with leather chairs, sherry and chocolates; the Bose ipod speakers; the balcony furniture--everything about the room is perfection. And the bathroom is as large... more

After a series of unpleasant experiences at Ras Nungwi Hotel in Zanzibar, we elected to leave early for a safari covering Lake Manyara, Ngorongoro Crater and the Serengetti with two nights spent that Ngorongoro Crater Lodge. I must start by stating that my wife and I found this establishment to be virtually faultless; fabulous buildings, an amazing location at 2400m... more

This place is one of the most breathtaking and amazing places to see. The lodge rooms are wedged on the side of a volcanic crater! Luxury at the topmost- the rooms are decorated with an African and Victorian flare. Imagine a bubblebath surrounded by rose petals waiting for you after safari. The food was a fine selection of gourmet meals.... more

This is an excellent safari lodge, with an excellent staff. The rooms are a bit over the top, but they are well maintained, enormous, and have every comfort. Each room has a personal butler, which is really a full-time waiter. (He also makes a fire at night, since it gets chilly on the crater edge, where this is located.) The... more

Perched on the edge of an extinct volcanic crater, the lodge boasts one of the world's most breathtaking locations, but given what they charge, they have an obligation to deliver more than a view. It's certainly the best place to stay on the crater, but relative superiority is not enough--the place should be extraordinary on all dimensions. It wasn't. A... more

This was the last of our 3 lodge safari (Loisaba and Bateleur were the others). All 3 lodges were quite different so it made an excellent mix. Ngorongoro Crater is the most amazing place. When you go down into the Crater it feel like you are entering a different time, going back to pre-historic time. As with the other CC... more
