The window beside our bed had a gorgeous view of the ocean. We also enjoyed a private porch, which had the same view. This is a first class place. The staff members all spoke English well and were very meticulous--although not quite as friendly as those at other Costa Rican hotels we visited. It took a hike to get there,... more

We were terribly excited about our trip to Costa Rica and Punta Islita. We knew we were on the edge of the green season and were prepared to participate in activities in the morning and relax when the rains started in the afternoon. Unfortnately, Mother Nature had other plans. The first hurricane to hit the west coast of Latin America... more

Okay, first, getting there: If you can, fly into Samara and the hotel will pick you up. In the "Green season" the roads (huge potholes that will threaten to eat your car) are horrific and a 10 KM trip could take you 40 minutes. Seriously. We flew into Liberia and rented the world's smallest SUV. It suited us just fine.... more

Arriving by plane at Punta Islita is not for the faint of heart but the moment you arrive all is forgotten. This ihotel s a true gem it offers all the luxuries while remaining very close to Costa Rican way of life. You arrive to spectacular views, incredible service and very clean rooms. The hotel views and landscape are even... more

I stayed at Punta Islita for four days with my sister and my niece. We had a beautiful two bedroom villa with a pool. We enjoyed the resort, however I will never go back again, and I would tell you to stay somewhere else after nearly $1000 worth of items were taken from our room. The room was not broken... more

The is the perfect place to stay in Costa Rica. After several trips to the country we have decided this is our best vacation ever. The rooms are clean and have the most beautiful views of the ocean. My husband and I spent several hours in the hammock outside our room enjoying the views and perfect weather. The staff was... more

My wife and I stayed at Punta Islita for 5 days on our honeymoon. We've often discussed how it is not only the finest hotel we ever stayed at... it is likely the finest hotel we're ever likely to stay at. Beautiful in every way. more

We went in the dry season and rented a regular old Toyota Corolla. That got us to the Punta Islita hotel just fine. River crossings were very easy and quite exciting for our 4 yr old and 6 yr old. Arrived at the hotel and Angelica was there to greet us with cold towels. Angelica was great. She picked out... more

When you are greeted with cold towels after a quick two hour drive(country roads), it sparks your interest. We enjoyed our stay tremendously. The staff(all wear ear pieces to communicate with the front desk) was wonderful. Always a smile and did what was ever asked as quickly as possible. The food was excellent. Though the beach sand is quite pebbley,... more
