We stayed here for 3 nights. If you class it as a Australian 2-3 star hotel you won't be disappointed. The location is spectacular and the actual accommodation is adequate. The food is 99% Chinese and so forget anything more Western than a piece of toast. The staff are OK, a bit surly at times but then they were flat... more

We arrived at the BeiHai hotel after and arduous seven hour hike. We were given a room overlooking a garbage dump in the courtyard. The carpet smelled like vomit, and we were told that was because the carpet was just washed. The front desk refused to change our room until we spoke to the manager. They then put us in... more

We booked a double room through a local travel agent - found it beforehand in the internet. They booked a room for us without demanding a credit card for guarantee, and the rate was about 80 USD which was less than the hotel's public price. It's not cheap for China, but the room and the service was about the same... more

Loved Huangshan scenery but made a terrible mistake in staying overnight at Beihai Hotel. Classed as 4 star but seem to be totally clueless with meeting basic travellers' needs. On the whole, it is grossly overrated. To be fair, the hotel is well located for the cable car and for viewing the famous Beihai sunrise and the rooms are clean.... more

I spent 3 nights up in Yellow Mountains in March this year and therefore I had the chance to sample a different hotel each night as I walked from the southern side of the mountain to the north. Beihai surely isn;t quite the regular 4-star you come across in other parts of China but believe me, it must be the... more

Hotel was better than I expected. Was a pretty amazing when you consider that its at the top of a mountain and most of the stuff in it will have been carried some if not all of the way by hand. Room was large and ok, bed a bit hard but thats to be expected in China. Was much better... more

Stayed here for two nights at the Beihai hotel. Standard room was comfortable and clean; although they were skimpy on the pillows and bedding considering the cold. The heater took a while to warm up the room but worked adequately. Best feature of the hotel is the location, not too far from the gondola, just steps away from a great... more

We stayed at Beihai at the end of March. The hotel far exceeds our expectation, especially in light of the fact that everything has to be carried up the mountain on porters' shoulders. We had a standard room with an extra bed added (for a family of 4). There was a control to turn heating fan on, and it worked... more

My husband and I stayed at the Beihai for one night in early December. The weather was spectacular (sunny but cold) and Mountains were fabulous. The room was adequate, small, clean, rock hard Chinese style mattresses, hair dryer in the bathroom and a nice view of the mountains from the window ...now the "but". The only problem is that they... more

I have not been to other hotels in Huangshan and therefore can only tell you what I thought about this hotel in isolation. One has to keep in mind that they have to carry supplies up the mountain using manual labour so standards are not the same up there. The hotel sufficed but don't expect all the normal comforts. Below... more
