They booked a room for us without demanding a credit card for guarantee, and the rate was about 80 USD which was less than the hotel's public price. Loved Huangshan scenery but made a terrible mistake in staying overnight at Beihai Hotel. Classed as 4 star but seem to be totally clueless with meeting basic travellers' needs. We stayed at Beihai at the end of March. The hotel far exceeds our expectation, especially in light of the fact that everything has to be carried up the mountain on porters' shoulders. I have not been to other hotels in Huangshan and therefore can only tell you what I thought about this hotel in isolation. One has to keep in mind that they have to carry supplies up the mountain using manual labour so standards are not the same up there. The hotel sufficed but don't expect all the normal comforts.
