I stayed there for one night prior to a cruise. The front desk was very helpful and spoke fluent English. Our room exceeded our expectations and was very clean, comfortable and modern. It was almost like a suite, even though it was the "Standard Rate". I don't know if all are like this, but this was a very fine room.... more

During our stay in Rio we stayed at 2 hotels, the Intercontinental and the Lancaster othon (see my other review) I was not impressed with the Intercontinental. It was just a plain hotel, rooms small and dated. The Beds were much more comfortable than our previous hotel, but..for the money, I think I would have saved it and found somewhere... more

I agree to some extent with the comments about the location. You're certainly out of the action, but maybe that's a good thing given the reputation of Rio?
